Hey,

Wanted to know what starting settings are balanced and recommended for this mod? I've made three failed attempts now with default settings, experienced (barring changing from 1 to 4 IMPs.) I can't get past taking 2 or 3 towns. Had to restart campaign after playing 5+ hours each try... I keep running into the same problem where I get ground down as I run out of higher tier ammunition. I do ok when I get access to enough nato 7.62x51mm or get a good 5.56 gun with plenty of ammo early but It just seems like I'm doing something wrong. Not enough Nato ammo (for m24) drops and Bobby Rays has nothing at all this early. I have 30 enemy counter attacks coming to Oronegro I can't beat even with save scumming (hate having to do that)

Should I be doing more night missions? Better tactics? I am trying to be frugal with ammo but there are tons of enemies in towns and countryside. And it doesn't help the starting PDW has 6x35mm ammo that NEVER drop and no one sells.

Also, I tried novice difficulty this run through (day 1 so far) and Bobby Rays has WAY more items than in experienced, is that by design?

Start with highest BR quality/quantity.
Disable counterattacks in Ja2_options.ini (TRIGGER_MASSIVE_ENEMY_COUNTERATTACK_AT_DRASSEN = FALSE, AGGRESSIVE_STRATEGIC_AI = 0)
Start at experienced/novice level.
IMP with 79 marksmanship will start with 9mm smg as far as I remember.
Use artillery strikes when defending towns, use tripwire + guns/grenades as makeshift mines, plant explosives with remote detonators (should be available from TNT) for defense.

Thanks for the reply. Great mod, having a good time with it now. I did BR's quality @ 3x and that got me the ammmo I needed. I've taken 4 towns now and I'm doing ok with only minor quicksave abuse. There is definitely not enough ammo dropping to survive but I'm able to order a case or two @ bobby Rays to supplement. The item placement and pacing so far is great. I had to reload when I met two tanks in a road sector but I was able to go back and destroy them with a mortar and 2-3 laws I had.

I do have a question, I got a quest to escort Dwight to G7 but when I get there nothing happens. The quest mentions a rendevous but I don't see anyone and when I un-escort him he just walks away.

2nd question, I took over Doran but the loyalty is stuck @ 36% and I can't train militia. What can I do to raise this?

1. Some quests may increase loyalty, though I'm not sure about particular VR quests.
2. Use snitch with 'spread propaganda' assignment.
3. Kill some enemy soldiers.

Thanks for the quick response, Snitch as in a merc with the snitch trait??

Also what about the Dwight and his 'Semen Quest'??? How do I complete his quest after bringing him to G7?

Doran is particularly sensitive with loyalty and this is also interconnected with quests linked to that town. So completing quests may help if you are struggling to gain full control of that town. I'm even wondering if this is element of the game is too much reliant on quests, but then again it encourages players to attempt to complete them.

Actually ignore that, I was referring to Salinas. I'm not entirely sure if Doran has the same factors, though you may discover less loyalty the further you head south.

Ok I've got a new issue/bug, I can't change firing mode with period. The period key used to switch to the Colt 203 grenade launcher and change between using scope and Iron Sights, and it doesn't work for me. I have a Talon that won't fire, (and I can't load it maybe it's just bugged) but I have a Toburk DMR rifle that has the Iraqi ON-99 scope and it won't get out of Iron sights.

About the Tabuk.. I don't get it aswell, but I've used it a lot since it seemed like a very good gun even for mercs with poor marksmanship. My (.) key is working fine for me, but i wasn't able to "switch to" that scope as well. But i can definitely see its effect when the merc is (l)ooking (if you press the "end" key), with or without another scope. I attach a 4x on it so that it could accept a reflex sight and I could switch between the 4x and reflex. Also the bonuses between the two scopes add up. Not sure if that's intended. Served me well for quite a while. Just replaced it recently with a M21 with a 10x.

About the Talon.. I've read somewhere here that it was bugged but already fixed, can't remember where though. But there are link's on the download thread for updated files. Maybe that would fix it. Don't have a talon atm to test.

About spreading propaganda.. I just noticed recently that there is a spread propaganda assignment through aca building. Idk if it's more effective than just through the "snitch" menu. But it does require a certain amount of leadership, I'm guessing 20 since Ears can do it and Gary can't. Having trouble raising loyalty in Alma since a quest giver died(
