I want to play JA2 1.13 again. From the last year, I already have my savegames. But I finished the campaign. What I want to do is to restart the campaign but with the same team and with all the stuff that the soldiers have from the last campaign, including theier higher attributes and experience levels.
For years ago, long before 1.13, there were some savegame editors. With these editors I could change the inventar and attributes to the values like in an older but finished campaign.
I did take a look into the source code of JAPE. And I saw that the loading mechanism needs some decryption. Unfortunatley, JAPE is not working any longer with 1.13. But with this huge modification, I guess that there must exist a savegame editor or debugging mechanism. How it is otherwise possible to code 1.13 without this.

What he said. Either cheat, or alter the MercProfiles.xml and MercStartingGear.xml prior to your campaign, or, I guess, code some huge-ass function that exports profiles and inventory from a campaign to a file and then another function that reads that in.
Not that I get the appeal of starting a campaign with tons of high-end mercs with uber-gear, but that wasn't the question.
I know now that it could never work between us, as much as we wanted to, it could never be! Not because you're a rabbit, but because you're black.
If you want, you can donate to me. This will not affect how and what I code, and I will not code specific features in return. I will be thankful though.Report message to a moderator

Ok, I can edit the starting skill points for my IMP in the INI Editor and can edit the starting skill points for my MERCs in the MercProfiles.xml file manually. But if I edit the starting gear of MercStartingGear.xml with the XML Editor I must play the game with the new inventory system, because this changes have no impact on the old inventory system. That's a problem, because I don't like the new inventory system. Of course, I can do cheat for the equipment, but this needs too much time. Is there another possibility?

Sounds like you @gougluinn wrote about genuine JA2,
if correct you may want to check this thread http://thepit.ja-galaxy-forum.com/index.php?t=msg&th=3569&goto=39429&
also for vanilla JA2 there should be several SG editors, "jape" appears to get the best reviews according to search engine.
Besides, "There is no editor that allows you to modify IMPs after they have been created" is most likely not entirely correct,
although tinkering with hex editor until success may take longer than a whole campaign;)
