I am wondering if the Hunter/Ranger rifle skill bonuses covers all kinds of rifles ("regular" rifles, assault rifles, sniper rifles) as long as they are fired in single shot or is it only the actual "rifle tagged" rifles that counts? (That was a strange sentence I know).

The "rifle" bonuses only apply to guns that are marked as rifles. That means no assault rifles or sniper rifles.
