Firstly you'll need to resort to guerrilla warfare, be fluid and dynamic and pick your battles. Scouting helps. Sun Tzu say, "...appear where the enemy beep-beep-jeep is not..."
Secondly, everybody gets trappers with .44 C-Mags. Even Barry. Requires XML editing.
Thirdly, go south to Balime and buy the Humvee. Load nothing but RDX, TNT, C4, C1, mines, claymores, thermobaric RPG rounds, and German MREs into it. Drive it into the enemy Humvee. Detonate.
I mean, I guess you could go talk to that Irish guy, but what does he know about tactics? Pff.

Sounds like a solid plan, but after our Humvee has been reduced to metal flakes and ash, what will we do against the other 139 enemy vehicles that we'll meet along the way?

Jeeps are unable to destroy most terrrain obstacles, have no improved vision range
and iirc take damage from every AP ammo like e.g. otherwise despised 7.62 tokarev,
so why waste explosives on jeeps although they may be required for tanks
(happens frequently on insane&min_item_progress to run out of AT weapons,
or have none yet when tanks appear in patrols)

Jolly_Reaper wrote on Mon, 16 April 2018 17:10If you liberated the airport, perhaps you can order some explosives from Bobby Ray?
In all honesty though, in my opinion certain settings should be disabled by default and this is definitely one of them.
I can imagine the cars, and invasions really doing a number on new players. This is AIMNAS. It's allowed to be hard. It's supposed to be hard. If you start your JA2 career with that, it's your own fault.
silversurfer wrote on Mon, 16 April 2018 19:22Is progress 30 still "early game"? That's the point after which enemy jeeps can appear. Still, a player who isn't used to armored vehicles outside of Meduna will have a bad surprise at some point. Smeag has preplaced combat cars in all the sectors that are likely to warrant having them, regardless of progress. In exchange, Devin sells decent amounts of Bazookas and Panzerfausts from day one however.

Thank you for the suggestion! For my next campaign I will definitely hire some demolition mercs. I think some guys actually start out with Semtex or something.
But... I did it! I managed to destroy this one. In case any one cares: 7.62x25 AP does fuckall against Jeeps. Neither does 9x18 AP, by the way. I somehow managed to lure the Jeep really close to the single propane tank section in the garage (after carrying away all the gasoline stored there, obviously*), blowing that up for 48 damage. The rest of the Jeeps HP I removed with 2 shots of .30 cal AP and - thank god - standard .357 actually does 1-2 points of damage to Jeeps, so Dimitri could destroy they Jeep using his Barracuda. I play on expert without mercs (just my IMP and whomever I can recruit in Arulco), so my options were really limited.
*Thinking of this now, I might have used strategically positioned gasoline tanks to enhance the propane explosion. I should try that.
