Hey,

I've just managed to take the Meduna airport but had really trouble dealing with all the troops kneeling behind the sandbag walls. They always spot you first, are almost impossible to hit and I don't seem to be able to get grenades into the enclosures.

Anyone got any tips? If you can get around the back and fire some grenades through the opening its not so bad, but what if you can't do this?

Cheers,

They sound like very effective solutions.

However, i only just have enough of these weapons to take out the tanks without shooting soldiers with them too. I already buy them whenever they're available from Bobby Rays and have found a few when taking various sectors. Are there any other sources?

You can ignore the installations facing the east along the fence line and try to bust through the main gate (try going in at night). Once you are through, you can hit the dug in troops from behind.

Sector N7 is a reliable source for LAWs, if you haven't taken that sector yet. Also Meduna SamSite offers some reinforcements - you'll need a good lockpicking merc to access them though.

Those enemies are very hard. I recommand having a healthy, stealthy merc try to sneak in in anothe direction while the bulk of your team sneaks in front. You'll get shot, but you probably won't die, at least not before you get the other guy.

At least that's what works for me, I'm weird.
You can also ship bobby Ray's to Meduna once you take the airport, take advantage of that.

there is another pretty reliable option: cut a hole into the left side of the fence (in front of the building left of the tank)

use a merc with high exp level and or metal detector because there are mines there

take some of your mercs and move them around the left building, avoid the mines and traps using metal detectors and get those entrenched enemies from behind. (use sneak mode to get the first turn. maybe kill the tank with mortar/ LAW fire first)

another alternative is of course massive mortar fire (you can usually find at least one mortar in that sector, plus a bunch of LAW`s and order new ones from BR as stated by ccckeane)

IMO, you should never try to take the Meduna airport by entering from the East. That puts you in a very difficult position. When entering from the South, I do it as scorpion described.

I think the easiest way to take the airport is to take the road south from Grumm and enter the airport from the North. It's even possible to bypass the tank-filled sector north of the airport by entering it at the extreme bottom-left corner and then immediately leaving the map to the south. There is a small patch of ground at the end of the runway between the forest and the water where your mercs can enter. Have someone with a metal detector sweep the area for mines here, and you can then attack everyone from behind. I would not try this (or any Meduna sector) during the day though. Go at night, and make sure you have some breaklights.

Here's hte best way to take Meduna Airport
Attack at night, have all Mercs equipped with Night Vision or UV Goggles. It would be good if at least two are Night ops and that you have 3-4 snipers.
Come from the North, wester corner, as close to the fence as you can.

With your sniper merc, take out the 1-2 enemy soldiers that might be in one of hte sandbags and then take one merc anr run to cut a hole in the fence. Just run with the remaning merc behind the first sandbag cover.
You're now in, behind their back..

Works even better if you have silenced snipers.
