So it's day 25 now, and whenever i press D to go into turn-based mode, the game continues for a couple of seconds before turn based mode starts. Enemies still walk around (although no matter how close i am to them, they do not see my mercs). Is this a known issue?

Also, the UI doensn't change from real-time to turn-based (there is no bar at the top saying 'players turn' etc)

I've tried to fix it myself and so far no luck, it also once happened to an older savegame of mine which i then abandoned.


Edit: I realize the version i'm using is a beta/unstable from the MSOneDrive
Any idea where i can find the official 1.13?

Those don't seem to be the official ones, those are the beta's right? versions >8000?.

Also, any idea which other mods are like 1.13? I've gotten very used to the 1.13 inventory and attachment system.

All official versions are beta now, no more stable releases.

Another popular Ja2 mod is stracciatella, but it's more vanilla like, if you want new inventory and attachments, you have to use 1.13.

You may want to try stable 7609, but it's not bug free and officially not supported anymore.

Ok no matter, thank you for your help. I'm currently downloading Vengeance, and i'll await to see if someone here knows how to fix my cursed save.

Now do this -in a hostile sector-:
1. Let mercs walk a relatively long way (in real-time mode)
2. press D to enter turn based mode

-You will notice that the mercs don't stop walking
-You will notice that the UI doens't change
-Any enemies will not be able to see you that turn

Have you tried froced turnbased mode instead of [d] key?

The only check for [d] key to start combat mode is:
if ( (gTacticalStatus.uiFlags & INCOMBAT) || (NumEnemyInSector() != 0) )
{
	EnterCombatMode( OUR_TEAM );
}
I don't see how it can be broken.

On forced turn mode I run into even weirded problems, maps either have:
-Only 1 enemy
or
-No enemies in tactical, while it does have enemies on the strategic map

It's definitely cursed, because the save file exhibits the same problems on a clean 1.13 install.

After coming back from the dead, I finally got some time this weekend so I've downloaded 8796 yesterday to see what's new, and can confirm, at one point strange things started happening with real time/turn based transition. I'm neither using forced turn mode or ever touching D key or anything, so it's not that, but generally, every time the game switches to turn based mode, there is no that "pling" sound that it usually makes, turn progress bar doesn't appear as usual, and everyone who was moving when the transition was triggered continues moving (both enemies, and my guys, with the possible exception of the guy that first saw the enemy, not 100% sure) until they reach the spot they were moving to, or deplete their action points for the round.

In fact, I know the exact moment it started happening, and it's the perennial favorite spot cheeky entering the ring for first fight at Kingpin's is the first time it happened, at that point I just dismissed it as weird shit that is always possible in that cursed place, but after that it continued happening everywhere. Also, in that fight, Bull had full AP instead of the usual lowered amount, so it made it easier to pummel them guys into the ground cheeky

Since it happened on a really scuffed SDO with gazillion customized shit install I was messing with, I'll try to do reproduce it on a clean game, so if it happens again, I'll put up the save directly before that.

So, eh...

I made a new game with pretty minimal modifications (just dropped in some Ja2_Options I had laying around with NCTH on and some small changes like that) in order to play through fairish and squareish to San Mona and test it like that, and it happened again in the same way.

So, Ben jumped in, the opponent jumped in also, there was no sound, we don't have progress bar on screen, but we are in fight, and Ben has 110 AP available, which is weird.

Then just to be thorough I made another new game, with totally no changes from SCI (apart from Win8 fixes), took Grace and Bull, GABBIed my way to San Mona, got Bull into ring, and it worked normally... so who knows cheeky

Save file before jumping into ring, with both Ja2_Options and Skill_Settings used included (only 2 files changed from stock):

Very interesting, the weirdest thing here is that I never went to do the fight club thingy. I've been in that sector, but not in the ring, so that couldn't have been it for my save file.

Just realized i forgot to thank you for your effort!
Sorry and thanks!

I also first noticed this bug soon after visiting san mona (during a battle in the san mona mine area). Could San Mona be cursed?

Edit:
Tried many different changes in Ja2options.ini but nothing resolved the bug

Also, i went to kingpin's fight club and jumped in the ring and everything worked normal for me (on a new save)

Completely the same as what i experience in my 'cursed' save.

Actually I came across the fight club issue mentioned by Latzee above. It didn't start properly and then when I did kill the other guy in real time it hung forcing me to CTRL + ALT + DELETE and reload. This is was on my homebrew version of AR so just assumed that I broke it with my modding.

Do you have a save just before the bug appears, so it can be reproduced?
Another important question is - which revision is the first when this bug starts to appear.

I have my autosave set to every hour, and when i go back to those autosaves, the bug is already there. To me this means that the bug might have appeared during fast-forwarding in strategic mapmode.
