For the love of all that is sacred, can someone put together a guide for installing mods for idiots?! I've been trying to get Urban Chaos to work for hours now and there doesn't seem to be 1 accurate place that will tell me how to accomplish this. I don't want to go to multiple threads for parts of instructions here and there because they never end in success for me. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I could sure use some help. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide a tired, old, and apparently stupid, JA vet.

Hey Rebel,
this morning i felt the same way, but it's not so bad. I assume you are using Windows 10.
Here is a step by step guide. Since you tried installing you probably already have most of the files needed.
1.
Fresh install of JA 2 (awesome game )
Don't install into Windows default location like C:\Program Files (x86)\.
I used JA 2 Gold and installed it into C:\Games\JA2_UC\
Protipp: Install your JA 2 into its own JA2 Folder (without the "UC"), then make a copy and rename it to JA2_UC. This way you keep your fresh install nice and save (to make a copy later for other mods, or to restart if something goes wrong during installation).
2.
You need the Original UC Data Folder. Rename to Data-UC and move into the game folder from step 1.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/uwxbz9t1zmf6gnn/JA2UC%20FULL%20wQFIX2.7z?dl=0
3.
Get build 8675 of JA2 1.13 from DepressivesBrot's Onedrive. Extract files and copy into game folder from step 1.
https://onedrive.live.com/?id=13A6926EAC52083%21583&cid=013A6926EAC52083
The newest build atm is 8796, with the INI fixes from Julix further down it should work with 8796 too.
4.
Finally get the UC-113 hybrid and settings from Wil473.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/rfcxnwcbk3sfr2b/Urban_Chaos-1.13_Full_Experimental_12_v4.6x_20190510.7z/file
Don't let that "experimental" tag scare you, it works fine.
Extract the files and copy into the game folder from step 1. Overwrite all files.
This will correct all .ini settings to make 1.13 compatible with UC.
That's it, installation done. Best way to start the game is by running the INI Editor.exe
Select INI-File "Data-UC113\JA2_Options.ini
Select your desired resolution
Hit "Start" button to start the game.
If the performance is bad or you experience screen flickering, go into game folder -> Docs -> Windows Compatibility Fixes
You'll find a zip file that contains "performancefix.reg".
Copy this file to your desktop. Right click and go to edit. In there, change the path to your game directory from step 1
e.g. "C:\\GAMES\\JaggedAlliance2_UC\\ja2.exe" it actually uses double backlash \\, not the regular single one \
Save file to desktop and double click it to apply it to your registry.

One issue that can happen on the new builds is a black screen when you are attacked and click on "go to sector"
Hitting E instead to go to sector works.

Sorry no idea. I had 2-3 crashes during the campaign but none of them were reproduceable, after reloading it was fine.
You could reinstall to see if it has something to do with a bad installation.
If this is a reproduceable crash, you could send the autosave to one of the master coders on this forum.
Might take them a moment to take a look but they can most likely diagnose it.

Here is a SCI for a newer build of 1.13. So far it seems to be working fine and without the infinite stopwatch bug in the subways.
I haven't finished the campaign on this build yet tho, so you are beta tester too
https://www.mediafire.com/file/adpkeo8ukcqhcug/JaggedAlliance2_UC113_9144_SCI.7z/file
This SCI includes the Windows 10 fix by Someone64 using DxWrapper. Also it has a custom INI with pretty much every feature turned on: Enemy Helicopter, Tank patrols, Arulco Special Division, Enemy Generals, Dynamic Dialogs, stronger suppression fire, tougher militia, stronger weapon damage etc.
It's a lot of fun but if you don't like a feature just turn it off in the INI.
If it looks pixelated with DxWrapper I recommend using Reshade, copying these files into the game folder should do the trick:

Is there a way To merge Weapons From one Mod to another ?
I like some more Weapons/Launchers from Aminas / AFS in 1.13
Sadly some Features From the new 1.13 are missing from those mods
No Streala And Radio Are Mäh in Aminas Or Playing on wildfire Maps
