Just been down in the mine, and stole the money. Am I supposed to kill him, and if yes, should I do it right away? I read something in here about killing him, but can't seem to remember where I read it... Is there something I should wait for, or can I just go up to him and blow his brains out??

I am taking down Kingpin and cronies, but I want to make sure I don't gun down any civilians. I am only shooting people who start with a crosshair instead of a talk icon, and people carrying guns.
Many of the people I am shooting are not dropping equipment, when I have the game set to drop any equipment. Does this mean I am shooting civvies?

To talk with him, first you must win 3 fights in a row in the Extreme Fighting Competition or simply use wirecutters on the fence on Kingpin House and use the backdoor to enter. He'll talk to you.
He'll offer 20K for an item named Chalice of Chance, but you need to bring it to Chitzena, so you can train militia at Balime, so get the Chalice, make a little stop at San Mona, give the Chalice to Kingpin and... LET'S ROCK BABY! Kill Kingpin and his goons, you'll end up with lots of stuff, get the Chalice from Kingpin's dead body, follow Angel's tip an go to the abandoned mine and steal Kingpin hidden treasure ($30K). Since he's now dead he won't send assassins to kill ya. What use have the money for the dead?
Bring the Chalice to Yanni, to get a loyalty boost on all the cities you control, including Balime and... Back to work, Woody!

In my current game, 4 of the 6 killers already appeardd in the first 14 days (game-time). All of them appear only in urban sectors.The last one attacked Biff in Cambria. Biff was training militia there. The killer shot him twice with his AK, but Biff still had full armor (collected along the way from Drassen to Cambria, forgot to let him drop all the stuff in Cambria).Biff was hit for moderate damage. He had some guns on him too, but no ammo (ammo was previously collected by my spearhead team). All he had was the friggin dart gun and 2 darts. He fired (with all the few extra AP's remaining at aiming), shot Ray in the head. Lo and behold, Ray plummeted to the ground senseless. Holy cow! Then i had no other options (my team was near Tixa just then). SO, poor Biff killed Ray with his bare fists.Took him a while though. WTG, Biff!

It's possible to kill Kingpin without angering anyone else in San Mona shooting at something behind him, takes a while but it works
Also it's possible to use a merc with low EXP skill to fuse/defuse explosives near Kingpin:
Once I gave Buzz full Spectra-18, HMX sticks and a detonator, and man, she really messed up the HMX! The HMX was so messed in fact, that it exploded when Buzz placed it on Kingpin feet, who started to make the fire dance after the explosion, well I never needed his Steyr AUG , and Buzz was still alive YAY! :rolleyes: :bomb:

In a former life (v1.06) I hired Trevor, and, over the course of many days, amassed a very, very large collection of c4, c1, and remote detonators from Devin and Bobby Ray's. One night, I talked to Kingpin, and then nonchalantly (I don't think I had to sneak around to do this) set explosives all over his house, over at the fight club, and wherever else I could find his goons hangin around. I set up three of my mercs behind the bar in the fight club, and three others south of Kingpin's house. Then Trevor lit the place up. I'd never really done much with explosives prior to this; I giggled like a schoolgirl as I watched the place go up; I blew out enough walls on KP's house that the remaining structure should've collapsed, LOL! Somehow, Kingpin survived, critically wounded, so my IMP put him down with a single shot to the head. It was trivial to mop the place up after all those booms. Never done it since, but it still gives me a warm fuzzy thinking about it

Being afraid of knocking into spoilers (and previously reading through the first half of this thread, and learning just that) I haven't read everything, so I apologize if this has been answered indirectly;
anyway in my current game I took the stash for the hell of it (never having done it previously), has received the email, and now all civs (ie soldiers and mobsters) with guns in san mona turn hostile on me. Even in the sector with Tony, where I first encountered it. Went in without any call of hostiles in the area, and suddenly a gong and a shot going off. Assumed it was an assassin, but no, 10 hostiles in sight. Is this all in order? From reading this thread earlier on I somehow got the impression it was not to be expected, though in afterthought it makes sense obviously - but just want to be sure.

Exactly, thank you
Heh thought it WAS a bug when I had cleared out both sectors but couldn't put danny on doctor (or the other tasks, all grayed out), so again it was like a silent hostile area, on the music and so on. This was in tonys area. So I tried moving them to angels, and back, and it went back to normal. BUT then I shot a crow feasting on some of the mafioso corpses, and again it was hostile, found out when I talked to the XXX vendor (gah, what's his name, hans? likeable guy) and got a typical "stop fighting and we can talk!" message. But it just turned out to be the brothel madame needing sorting. Had in the back of my head that i'd walked through there, possibly missing her somehow, this also fueled my pick with it potentially being a bug.

They start coming after you stole from Kingpin (after he sends you a e-mail stating you have 24 hours to bring him back his $$$ with an extra...and you ignore it)
There's 6 of them and they will keep coming till you kill em all or till yoiu kill Kingpin.
