Hey all,

Still grappling with a(n old) game of 1.13, my first after several vanilla JA2 runs (a newbie, I guess).

I've reached the section where I've conquered/captured Drassen & mine, then Cambria & mine, SAMsites, Tixa, Alma, Chitzena and Balime;
I've got the quest from Yanni and in Balime got the Chalice. After a day or so (game time) I got the Chalice up to Chitzena.
Prior to this I've noticed that after getting Cambria and Alma mines, their income (based on town loyalty) rose up into the 50's %, but since killing several international terrorists and getting cash from Dancio the income from the mines has lessoned to Cambria = 35% and Alma = 45%.
No matter what quests I'd completed, Angel, Joey, Hicks, the Bloodcats, the Crepitus (Alma this time), the income always slides back from any increase.

Does opting for Dancio trigger some <<Reduce_Mine_Income>> register?
Even after getting the Chalice to Yanni, there was not much; Cambria went from 37% to 45% and Alma from 42% to 48%.
When I attack Grumm mine both those loyalty (and mine income) slide right back to C-37%, A-45%.

Is this just the game saying "This is the big leagues, tough it out" or is there some setting in the INI or .xml file I can tweak?
Ivan is a mainstay for me, but at $4500 a day I'm thinking Lynx at $2200 is a bargain, but he's weaker; Ivan can carry three weapons (mortar, sniper, assault).
And his MRK is in the 90's.

Do I have to hold gladitorial or FUN games in Cambria to boost loyalty, or buy junk from Keith? Right now I have zero presence in the town.
(In JA2 vanilla games mine income was high in all but the "played out" mine.)

What version of 1.13 are you running, and what features do you have enabled? A possible culprit is if you are using a spy, loyalty drops every time they are forced to retreat from a sector. This can be changed in the ini - I don't recall the exact setting, but it's something along the lines of DEFEAT_MODE.

I'm using a possibly older version of JA2_1.13 7609 from several years ago.
I'm not using a spy, but I have retreated from skirmishes often and then re-entered the combat sector after at another point and continued the fire-fight.

If the town's NPCs and people don't like that, I suppose that would be the reason. I have tweaked the INI and Morale and Reputation CONFIG files.
I've done that during a current game (though not while it was running suprised ), and didn't restart.

It's been a learning experience.
I don't know what I've fouled up by tinkering with the settings.
Now, every time I right-click the map the game gives an error and crashes; previously that would produce a sector summary.
I haven't patched or reinstalled so I might be in line to do a clean and fresh re-install.

I did find a setting: <<GAME_PROGRESS_MAX_POINTS_FROM_MINE_INCOME>> the JA2_Options config-file, but this doesn't seem to apply.
I've looked and 'searched' for MINE INCOME, no luck.

BTW, since taking Drassen, and later Chitzena, they reached 100% loyalty in both towns and have rarely varied. Only Cambria and Alma mine-incomes rises and falls through fire-fights.
After the last mine is taken one mine closes down; hope it's not Drassen.

...

Yeah, retreating from a firefight counts as a defeat, which comes with a loyalty loss.

I'm afraid there's not much that can be done if you're on an older build; the newer builds will have more fixes and tweaks available.

MINE INCOME is located within the Financial settings on the INI.Editor. I play the same old 7609 version of 1.13 and i have set the mine income to a 1000. It's more than enough. You can also take the increment on the SELL_ITEMS_TO_LOCALS setting to 4 or 2. The lower that number is, the more money you get from selling loot. Don't even bother with the wanted terrorists, although it's fun to track some of them down and get rid of them.
