Cliff has the most annoying voice, and his skills are poor as well. Why would anyone hire him? You can quickly raise Q's mrks to an acceptable level. Anyone dispute this?

Q is agressive person there are lot of problems with other merks if you get him.
A any way this thread is only one decision - use proedit

& make them suit your own needs.
That's the way I changed most of AIM table to make it more close to my understanding what mercenary is in fact - proffecionals but salary is raised too

Everything depends of your philosophy of playin'. I do loooove RPG, so I do hire numerous crap mercenaries - MERCS, Bull, MD, Ira..... I send them into battle, in order to see them finish as killing machines. Ira went up to LEV 7 - 93 MKS - 60 LEA in one of my games.

And Flo became my sniper!!! trained her on locked doors - on cows, it would be cheating, but, hey, I need these doors opened!!!

cool.. what if one edited the mercs with proedit so that everybody are low stats but high wisdom? that'd definitely be great. but let's get back to the topic
cliff voice file isn't the worst. it must be some of the MERC "mercs" flo of gumpy maybe

Cliff's voice doesn't bother me, although he's kind of a jerk personality-wise.

There are quite a few mercs with voices that I find annoying - Raider, Ira, Stephen, Gumpy, etc. However, there are just a couple who I think are so bad that I would not hire just because of their voices. Stephen is one - for some reason he just really, really bothers me. I just hired Bull for the first time and it might be the last; he seems to be almost unbearably unpleasant.

I'd have to agree that Gumpy has the worst voice.
Sorry to all you gumpy fans out there, but his usally the one I hire just to get more guys at merc.
After a while I get life insurance on him and hamous.
Then I send them both with heaps of mustard gas to Kingpins place...
figure the rest out.
A question about cliff,
Where is he supposed to be from?
That accent really doesn't seam to match his surname.

Stupidity is best attributed to the Wisdom stat.

In which case I think Hamous is the winner (errr.... loser) here. His Wisdom score is 35 or so. What more can you say about a guy who steals an ice cream truck...

Ira in my current all female A-team is also level 7 with a marksmanship of 90 and leadership of 85 or 95. I've been taking it slow so Enrico bitched at me on several occasions. My backup B-team consists of Biff, Flo, Hamous, Shank, and Dynamo. haha, what a group of losers...

I once tried something similar, putting together a "crap squad" of Ira, Biff, Flo, Hamous, Dimitri, etc. My hope was that while my main teams attacked cities, the "crap" guys would take out some patrols and build up their skills. Well, the first patrol they encountered basically shot them all to hell and they barely escaped. So I ended up trashing that idea pretty quick. Maybe if I had your patience I could take the time to make something decent out of them.

To be accurate, I did finish the game on expert, with my IMP as lone good fighter. Needs patience, though. But you can get killer teams for very few money.

Actually, Ivan Dolvich was removed from the forum after he made another screen name for himself, Stoogie (which has also been erased), and used both these to post endless streams of no-good messages, mostly one-liners and critisism of other peoples' work.

I've never hired Cliff, what really turns me away from hiring him is the fact that he has no skills whatsoever. I just hired Danny and he's my sniper now. All the doctors are smart enough to train any to shoot.

I have Raider on my team, and I hate him. But he has evolved into a great shooter and is extremely good at cranking out militia with Len. Len, on the other hand, has been with my team since day one and has not increased a single stat, by even a point. I thought something was wrong, but yesterday I read that he doesn't evolve, so it made sense. When I replay, neither of these guys will be involved.

Stephen isn't all bad. Yes - his "enemy" shout is annoying as hell, but I love his other quote "Time to earn our pay". Besides - Meltdown says he is "prime meat" and I don't dare disagree with her.

however... i am totally irritated by raider's voice... its... squeaky... i used to pair him up with raven for that husband/wife combination but soon i figured he doesn't deserve her... ha... therefore... hope he gets kia in the philippines or something...

Stephen and Meltdown like each other for some reason. Not sure why actually, they're quite different people.
I don't like Stephen's voice-set, and Cliff isn't great IMO. Meltdown does have some funny lines but I rarely take her along. She hates Biff&Flo too much, and I need them training militia while I'm off shooting stuff.

Cliff is all right as a merc-- I have no complaints... and he does improve. Q might be better in the long run because of his high wisdom and better physical stats.

As for the voice, I can think of several others whose voices irritate me more than Cliff's: Bubba, Raider (Why does he sound so wimpy??... is he a former SWAT Captain or a former Stuart Smalley?) Wink

, Stephen (a great merc, a horrible voice!). But they can all be muted, too, so it's no big deal.

Biff is the worst voice file. Not the voice acting, just the character, he's as annoying as hell. I've hired Biff a few times as a cheap trainer early in the game but I usually end up firing him pretty quickly. I've never actually hired Cliff, so I should really give that a try, but I doubt he can bother me more than Biff. I've hired almost everyone else, but an expensive doc that has a suggested drinking problem kinda wards me off.

Red has the worst voice file. I'm Scottish and frankly the accent that Red has is terrible. It ranges from sudo Scottish to bad irish and back again. He is the only character I mute. Even Ira's annoying rasp of a voice is better.

I usually hire Malice and MD. Now that I think of it, my two favourite Canadian cities are Ottawa and Montreal, Malice is Montreal and MD is Ottawa. Even when MD is bad he's alright, and when Malice is bad, he's excellent!
