My imp is level 9, higher than Gus (level Cool

, killed around 450, assisting 80. Got all his traits above 95 except wisdom (85), leadership(85)mechanics(37) and medical (38). I am attacking the 4th town now.

I remember a guy playing Solo got his IMP guy level 14. That's just so increditable!

As far as I know, 10 *is* the maximum... whoever said they got 14 must have been BSing.

I remember reading about this guy in a different post, too.

you can only get up to level 10 without cheating, editors and such can make it high, but in regular gameplay 10 is the highest i believe. please correct me if im wrong

I have gotten my Imp as far as level 10. And I agree who ever has said he has a level 14 merc is talking a lot of bullshit

Level 9 is the best I've done so far. I just started a campaign a few days ago where I decided to take the country with just a single team of 4 mercs so I may finally get to see a level 10.

My IMP has also reached level 10.

BTW I think levels go up too fast.

Well, think about it: Gus has been in business at least 20 years and he`s at level 8. Then comes your IMP and gains same experience in 2 weeks...

the highest i got was level 6 with stats like

Marksmanship: 98 (was 85)
Health: 95 (was also 85)
Medical: 80 (was 65)

the rest were irrelevant

anyone ever notice that if you do cheat and put you level above 10, the next time you gain a level. it goes down to 10 and the stat goes red, saying so and so lost x number of levels.

I noticed that you can gain health and strength by overloading your mercs as much as you can. In JA2UB, I loaded my guys with lots of C-Rations (which weigh a lot) and molotovs. Everybody was around 200% weight or more. Then I gave them movement orders to the next sector BUT I immediately cancelled the order. They still gained some health and strength without actually moving! Do that for awhile and soon your mercs are pretty healthy.

As I said, that is in JA2UB....presumably it will work in JA2 but you'll have to try it.

Well I kinda noticed, that the "learning behaivior" differs between JA2 and UB. I got no proof on it except my own feel of the game. Health and strenght seem to increase more easily in Ub. But again just a feel thing.

Anyone else noticed that ?

not really, health stays as it is, strength only gets up by beating cows here... (and there aren't any cows in UB afaik). So, sorry but no, didnt notice Smile

I think Forsaken and Drop Bear are correct about the speed of improvement. Remember that UB was a short game with just a handful of sectors, so it was necessary for the mercs to improve rapidly in order to make a fair fight with the bad-ass grey shirts in the lower levels. In JA2, you don't meet up with so many tough enemies until you get to Meduna, and by then you have probably visited most of the sectors on the map over the course of 45-60 game days which gives many more opportunities to improve.

Oh well, after I finished my one-man(actually woman)-only game in JA2 I'll try UB again. I want to play UB with her imported too... so, it could take a while before I finished my JA2 game, because I want her to level up quickly. Smile

I also think Forsaken and Drop Bear are correct. After just a couple of fights in UB, I had already gained like8 mark(started at 75). At first I thought it was because I had wisdom of 90 and not 85 but now that ive tried wisdom 100 in JA2, i see that I still learn slower than in UB.

Gus does not have the Alt+S / Alt+L shortcuts, so he has to be careful when in action Smile

And careful usually means slow-moving.

Well my IMP just made level 8 and not all of this is due to killing enemies. No most of it is due to killing crows (throwing knives and fists), stalking bloodcats and setting/disarming explosives. Very Happy

And I am nowhere near the end of the game with only Alma, Drassen plus SAM and Chitzena plus SAM taken.

Do you guys set-up kills for your imp using other characters o soften them up... I use to do it then figured it was really unfair... wouldn't happen that way.. However it is just a game so maybe it is okay

i think, that thing is not to finish the game in lat days (like for ex. 150) but to kill deidrana asap, so lately I got just 6, and finished the fame in about 60th day, without overtaking Chitzena, Balime and Orta Wink

Levels go up too fast? Take an IMP, give him strength 35, gabbi cheat, overload him, and use map-sector teleport to make him retreat from grumm into a water square. 65Str gained, and 9levels gained. Same can be used with Flo, to get her instantly to level 8 (the same combat experience as gus, or mike on JA1). Now thats fast exp gain. If only i could do it without cheating...

I think 10 is the maximum. The first time I beated the game, my IMP reached level 10 in the first sector in Grumm. (and in the second sector he reached 100 MMS:cool:) After that he killed at least 60 enemies alone, maybe more, and he never made level 11.

Well Misteret, it can be done without cheating. I was in Meduna SAM, and I used Ira to get stuff from Grumm to Meduna on foot. It was a bug though, but she made the way in about a second and gained 44 points of strength, 2 points of health, and I don't know, how many levels (to 10). Pure luck...
