I don't mean the merc you hate the most, but the one you can't use with great effect.

For me, I'd say Bubba. To...awful to use for anything. Flo and Biff have more kills then him. I find his low wisdom to be a major hinderence, and he hasn't improved in ANY stats since I got him. He's awful. Also, he's not a team player, Blood hates him. Bah.

I've heard Larry could be cool once healed, but I never had the patience. Other than that, Shank is tough to level up, 'cause he can't even wear any suitable armor due to poor strength..... Having him in my team is pure roleplay.

When I used Larry, he was EXCEPTIONAL...for a couple of weeks. Then his stats dropped. His Strength ended up at around -1000 or something. It was insane.

Yeah, I ended up sending him into a group of enemy mercs and had him set off some sort of explosive device just before they finished him off. Wink

I tried Shadow once and I actually found him pretty useless. The enemies seemed to have no trouble spotting him, before he could get to throwing-knife range. This was during daylight ops; does he work better at night?

Camo's efficiency on daylight is only marginal. Throwing knives are usually only used at night, they are a pain to use in daylights. Shadow is exceptional in nighttime. I don't use him anymore 'cause I like levelling crappy mercs, but he's definitively efficient.

He was the lone merc that I used when I started playing my 'absolutely no-reloads-and cheats + iron man + expert' game a couple of years ago. He and I alone took the whole towns of Drassen and Cambria plus NE SAM, before bringing in the rest of AIM. So Shadow is very far from being useless, IMHO Smile

Also bear in mind that camo doesn't work unless you are in rough terrain (ie. grass) or prone.

Can there really be a question as to which merc is worst? Who, but a MERC: Flo! There we have some serious worthlessness attached to utterly unimpressive stats. And not even her skill is of any real use, what with her starting at 1 and always being too tired to get any work done.

Still,you can't deny the fact that you can always apply camo to any merc,and stealth is one of the skills a merc doesn't seem to have any need for,from level 7 on.I can see his point.
Stats are formidable,though.Hireable only for the personality(?)Camo economy reasons?
But the most unirritating merc,in my opinion.Cool,calm,collected."A nice ...umm... addition to any team",as described in the additional info for him in UC.

To return on the subject, Shank has always been useless. And despite 400 days of training and MRK,DEX,LDR and other stats well above 90, he was facing a poor redshirt with his FN-FAL, he shot a burst at point-blank range...AND HE MISSED ALL THE DAMN SHOTS!! ...God,please strike him with a WELL-AIMED lightning.........

The most useless mercs would be Flo, Bubba, Biff, Shank and Fidel.
fidel has some good stats but he is a pain in the ass!

the best merc i think is grizzly, he learns well early in the game and with his strength you can keep him at the back of your squad with mortars. if you get attacked from the rear he can take them, and you can really load him up with those shells!

Back on topic; the most useless mercs for me is the most boring ones, with little or no interaction with other mercs.

So, my list have Scully, Shadow, Hamous, Barry, Cliff and Scope on it (among others).

WoW, I don't think Buns is useless, however the "little or no interaction with other mercs" makes sense here.
Most of the times interaction with Buns involved means some Merc won't continue to work.

Mercs that lack a skill, somewhere trough the game I'll end up with my mechanics wounded... This I think is a problem for it takes more time to heal-repair than could've been...

If only Gasket/Bubba ('no-meds') were able to patch-up they'd be ok to put at SAMS, towns.
Same goes for Gumpy/MD regarding mechanical.

Ivan is not as cool as he was in the 1st ja, and I feel guilty about not using him very often. Anyway, for me personally the most useless merc is dr. q, not because he's bad but because I never use kung-fu and having him on the team is a waste of money.

IMO, Flo is one of the best merc's in the game. She can do it all--and for very cheap too. Plus, her wisdom is above average so she excels quickly!

Flo has good wisdom and learns quickly. What other mercs in the game are gonna cost less than $500/day at level 6? For those reasons Flo is one of the best in the game.

Dunno if you guys noticed this,but he thing that makes Flo unique and always a great addition to any team is that special gun knowledge bonus.In short,she can sell any weapon to Tony with a price about 30% higher than any other merc can.I think she also buys the items 30% more expensive,but who's buying anyway...
