Well, with all you guys around talking about those good ol' times of Metavira and DG, warm memories overwhelmed me and when I had a look at those old manuals "acidentally"...

And while browsing through all the mercs' histories I found something curious about MIKE:
"Persistant rumors, however, do place him in Dallas on the day Kennedy was shot and at Stormin' Norman's pool party in Kuwait."

Okay, let's see: John F. Kennedy was assassinated in November 1963. The rumors may be correct or not, the fact that he COULD have been there tells us he must have been of an age of at least, let's say, 20 years.
Operation "Desert Storm" under command of US-General H. Norman Schwartzkopf started in February 1991, about 30 years later.
I don't know of any particular date given in JA or JA2 but the liberation of Metavira could have taken place at the earliest in late 1992/1993, after Kuwait and the political breakpoint of the U.S.S.R.

Conclusions: Mike, a level 9 merc in perfect conditions regarding to his stats is a wonderboy of about 50 years (in JA2 even a few years older!)... Tell me, is he genetically manipulated or what?

I wondered that myself... he had to be like 5 years old in Dallas to look like he does now...

Mike's stats at 5 probably still outdid half of the AIM roster Very Happy

Good Observation, I didn't notice that myself.

But here's the reason: Mike is a superman! He doesn't age, and he can never die! See now?

Maybe Mike is a combination of experience, and being one of those people that age gracefully? No real skill at all?

I'm hoping he comes back from the dead to be hireable in JA3. Now combine this with the not at all likely ability to convert your save files from JA2 to JA3 and everyone asking Mike "I thought i killed you?" "You read my biography right, I can't die."

We killed Mike in Metavira and he pops up like new in Danubia. The man that cannot die.

1. He is a clone - a super mutant created in secret laboratories and cloned.
2. He is a robot.
3. He is an Undead (remember in the original Wasteland where you find a magic spell book in Las Vegas, crossing over genres?)
4. He is the phantom, who cannot die - his sons just take over and wear the same costume.
5. Poetic license.

Perhaps he was a merc prodigy? At the age of seven, assasinating presidents. At fourteen, wiping out millions. Practically perfect skills by the time he's 30.

It's possible he was 18 or so in Dallas, which would make him 45 in Kuwait, 48 at Metavira and 53 in Arulco. Considering there are guys like Pops, Bernie, Gus and a few other around, that's not too much. After all, Paul Newman was a racing champion at age 70... it's a quite extraordinary feat, but Mike has been a quite extraordinary merc. I don't see much problem with that.

Ja3 will probably take place years in future, so you should allow for the possibility of human cloning being an everyday thing. So the main bad guy in ja3 can be an evil b-movie nazi scientist who scraped Mike's remains off the ground in Arulco and is now ready to take over the world with an army of cloned Mikes, just think of star wars episode 2.

Or a genetically-enginereed merc with the brain of Mike and Crepitus parts Very Happy why not?
I'd better like an army of cloned Elliots who get in front of my team and start arguing with each other calling themselves idiots Very Happy Very Happy :argue:

Pops is another old-timer, he says something about being 3rd on the beach in Normandy. How old is he?

On a realistic note, there are Delta Force operators that lead well into their 40's so for a mercenary, I would say 50 isn't quite retirement time.

Pops,

I'd place him around 77 years old today (was one of those 16 yr old, lie-about-your-age guys in WW2).

Mike,

I'd say that Mravac is probably close, as Mike doesn't look that young. Damn he can take a few to the head! Ever try healing him after you drop him (JA2-- JA had me stealing his m16 hee hee)? Talk about ungrateful!

Have to agree with Sooner there.
The majority of the world's special forces are over 30. Unlike standard soldiers, they need people with more wisdom and experience.

Well, why do you think that he looks too young? I think that he looks as he is 50 in JA2.. Why can't he be 55 in JA3?

hey! the bio of mike in JA 1 place him in dallas in the day kennedy was shoot, it does not say he shoot kennedy!

he could have been a baby in the arms of a kennedy loving mother!

then he could have 30 or 34 in later pool party in kuwait
