I it is possible to save Brenda, but it takes some planning and leg work. Two things to keep in mind are that if you take too long trying to free her, or make too much noise during the rescue, the enemies will slit her throat. As soon as Jack tells you to that she is missing, your top priority should be a rescue attempt, don't bother trying to clear the sectors leading up to the one she is being held in unless you are very close, it takes too long. The best way I've found to free her is to send in your team from the southeast. Have 2 or 3 (depending on who you're using) stealthy mercs with silenced 9mms, and one more with a rifle of some sort, swim over to the island where she is captive from the south east (bottom right of the map)of the sector. Make sure that they all know how to swim, and have knives of some sort because nothing worse than watching an elite merc like Leo drown because he's been chomped on by snakes. Anyways, once the stealth team is near the shore of the island, send the rest of your team towards the bridge to pick off any stragglers. If you can get some mustard gas, it is a good way to make an area temporarily inaccessible to enemies. If you don't think that you'll be able to take all of the guards before they rush in, send a merc with high lock picking skills (Magic, Mike, Speck) into the hut while the others cover him. If you have some luck and time it right you'll be in good position dish out a major arse-wuppin' to your enemies. Once she is freed, have the crappiest guy on your team go talk to her because she'll need an escort and you probably won't want to waste an elite merc on babysitting duty. Hope this helps and I wish you luck.

Best way to rescue Brenda is to take in your team of mercs from the SE or preferably SW corner. When you rescue Brenda your most expensive merc will automatically be the one to escort her back, so you may as well send him to do the rescue. Send your most expensive merc around the back (have him go W until he is almost immediately S of Brenda's room, then N) and let all your other guys just kick it where you entered to avoid triggering alarm. Do not move them! You shouldn't pick the lock on the back doors, either - you risk being seen that way. Simply plant an explosive on the W-E running wall immediately SW of Brenda. It won't harm her, you'll be in, and the enemy will be too far away to intervene. If it's not too late (daywise), she'll be alive and your merc will escort her back immediately. Then take your other mercs (who are hopefully still relaxing on the border), have them travel to the next sector and quicksave. That's it. Foolproof.

Just put it in their inventory and then right-click on it, the translations should be able to read then.

Well well then. Anybody out there who would like to tell me how to decrypt those messages? The principle of the code is very simple; one letter is substituted by a different letter, e.g.
"L Mn Uzdc", doesn't make much sense, but if you use a code table (L=I, M=A, N=M, U=J, Z=A, D=C. C=K) it would say ...? One part of the code table gives you a part of the solution. The rest of the code has to be figured out by the player. It is not too hard, though.

pavel wrote on Tue, 22 March 2005 03:50As most of you know, once Brenda is kidnapped, she is usually kept in sector 24. My current game, I captured that sector before she was kidnapped. Once she was kidnapped, she was taken to sector 33 instead. I rescued her by going full frontal assault with my 1-man assault team (Mike), made lots of noise in the process and she was still alive, weird huh? Anyway, my next game I will try to capture both these sectors before she is kidnapped and see what happens.
So much money to own Mike so early?
