Im new hear and while waiting fro a copy of JA2 i decided to download the original. Early on i ran into some problems.

1: Which is the most useful starting group (i use wolf and ivan but not sure about the rest).

2: How do you use the micro purifier to restart tree harvesting.

3: Do i simply have to wait for the day to end or can i end it manually?

Anyone help would be appriciated!

1. That's usually what I use. Hehehehe

2. You bring it back to base at the end of the day, and Jack will automatically use it to restart the process. Make sure it's in your inventory when the day ends.

3. You can end it manually, but I don't remember how Sad

1. I like Ivan, Wolf, Grunty, Bud, Jimmy, Hamous (or something ilke that). Only Ivan is a good marksman to begin with if I remember correctly but they al have good starting points in agility, dexterity and marksmanship which is at least good enough for you to kill the necessary people. There are other cheap mercs with better marksmanship as an attribute but personally I like them to have good agility (higher AP if im not mistaken) and good dexterity too (not sure how that works in ja1).

2. Find it in the first day and make sure you have it in your inventory. I think that usually you find it in the sector just west or north of the starting sector (in msot cases). It's easy to miss when you collect loot so make sure you don't forget it. It's a pain in the ass to go another day withotu income, particulary if you're playing on hard and have like 4$ to kick ass with.

1. Ivan and but instead of Wolf you should recruit Ice Williams. And also Hurl! Very underestimated merc. 100 in health and a fast learner. Beth and Fox are great to have in your team aswell! Good Luck!

I think Fidel isn't such a great merc if you consider his agility (less APs). Of course he's a funny guy so you might want to take him just for fun Smile I don't usually have much use for explosive experts, the only real necessary guy is a mechanic who can stay home and repair the necessary stuff while you have the "a-team" do their thing on the day.

Fidel - "Leave me alone... I'm busy!"

Micropurifier - You'll find it on sector 50, but if you didn't find it on 50 then check out the sector 59

Ivan, Fidel & Ice are must have for the early stage: They can shoot Smile Fidel is quite slow due his low DEX and he refuses orders (Leave me alone, I'm Busy!) in the middle of combat but he's the best bargain for explosive expert Smile

Nice 3 to begin with, add wolf (lock picking) and hector (no good shot but 22 action points and cheap) or snake (22 action points and a fair shot)to them and u have a good starting team.
(maybye hire speck as well one the first day and give him medical training for 2 or 3 days so he can be a doctor and a mechanic later on in the game )

Why 5 starting mercs:
- carry lots of items
- easyer to finish your enemies of in the early stage

After a while get rid of wolf and hector or snake and keep fidel ivan and ice.

Fidel as other psycho mercenaries refuses orders when he engages an enemy. However you can rid of this problem if you order Fidel to pick up (just give the order, even there are no items to take) with CONTROL,then you have to stop him or Fidel will wastes AP.
The problem for pshycho mercenaries is that they need to kill a lot of time or they quit and you won't be allowed to rehire. For some mercenaries with low markmanship is a problem, for Reuban you can use a trick (it works on DG I never tried this with classical Jagged Alliance 1) you can give him money (just 10$) e he will quit,he will return with better stats. For Skitz it is quite difficult to keep him:low markmanship, low level and he will never improve!
