Hi everyone, I am honestly like two days away from having my campaign done!!

Bearpit, i tried to email you but got a delivery failure message, so could you get back to me here? Basically I just wanted to ask you if sending the campaign via cd is still the best option for getting it online, and if it is, where to mail it and to who.

Anyway everyone I've put up part of the briefing on line, this portion of the briefing contains details on the first team that was sent into Sierra Gordo. Your mission is to complete their objective and rescue any survivors of Alpha Team (NPC's).

you can read all about it at www.lethalcapacitor.50megs.com/alpha.htm
so check it out, by the way, none of the links on this page work, i didn't put the enitre briefing on line, just this page. I hope this sparks some interest in my campaign, which should be out soon. I swear soon. I just gotta get this done, I'm rambling, good lord.

Becoming X.
Would you believe that my ISP One.net went bust recently. This is the second one this year. Theyr'e falling like ninepins here.
So reach me at bearpit@iprimus.com.au

For the anxious nail biters out there.
This is going to take a while as Becoming X needs to mail me a disk because as you appreciate over 40 megs is a bit much for an e-mail attachment.
At the moment I only have a 56K modem but in about 10 days will have ADSL broadband. But that's 10 days away.
Large campaigns have their downside. http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/smilies/openmouth.gif

It should have been last week but since his campaign is over 40Megs Becoming X mailed a disk to Shanga ..... but the disk has corrupt data making the files unreadable. http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/smilies/bawling.gif
So now we are waiting on another disk.
Off course you ask why doesn't Becoming X simply load the files to a server so we can download them? Shanga has a modem account so downloading & re-uploading 40 megs will take http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/smilies/sleep.gif a lot of work.
Soon as we receive a clean disk it will be available & I'm as keen as anyone to play it.
70 maps & I think 6 hireable mercs.

Thanks for the info! I finished DL several days ago and just started UB for the first time, plus I got some custom campaigns and such, so I'll be entertained for a while, just wanted to be sure.

Thanks again!

Update on Becoming X campaign.
As you already know Becoming X posted us a disk which unfortunately has corrupt data making it impossible to open the folders.
He is overseas at present & wont return to Canada till 27 Sept so it would be at least middle of October before we receive another disk & can publish his campaign.
Sorry.

Hello I'm back from SEA and have got my campaign ready to mail out to Shanga. I mailed out a copy before i left but i must have messed up somewhere because some of the zip files were corrupted and... it was just bad.

Some notes on the campaign.
It is for JA2:UB.
My campaign is no where near as complex as Batman's DL classic. No new weapons or devices or gadgets. Sorry if people were expecting more.

The story line and clues are included using the same method as the Bearpits first campaign. Alt+tab to go check out passworded zip files whose passwords can be found in game item descriptions.

There are two new characters that are playable. They have been voiced by myself so if they sound similar and the acting is bad and they get on your nerves... well I guess you can use them for fodder.

Finally i haven't included many "high quality weapons". Few C-7's and other assault rifles. I always enjoy scrounging for weapons so I hope others enjoy this as well.

Well I haven't visited this board in some time and it is nice to see that people are interested in my campaign. I hope that i don't let them down too badly.

Just be sure to test the archives after you burn the CD (even better, set up WinZip to include Repair Info). Doesn't matter if the zips are larger. I can optimize them later.

Hey Shanga
As Bearpit suggested I didn't zip the files up. I have left them in the folders they came from. That would leave you to partition them as you wish.

Sorry if this causes extra work for you but since I don't know what went wrong last time with the zipping maybe it's a good idea to leave that entire step out.

It should be out soon. I mailed it to Shanga about a week and a half ago so I guess he'll be getting it pretty soon. The girl at the post office said two weeks.

To make things a little smaller maybe people could extract out of JA2 the voices for Iggy, Maddog, Conrad, and Vince.

Then maybe shanga could zip these sound files in a seperate file that doesn't have to be downloaded with the whole. That would probably save a bunch of space.

Most of my campaign is just voice files for mercs.

Got the disk this weekend. Unzipped version is 80 megs large. Zipped files (max. compression) are like this:

battlesnds.zip - 1.83 mb
binarydata.zip - 177 kb
Briefings_Here.zip - 1.74 mb
faces.zip - 240 kb
mercedt.zip - 80.7 kb
npc_speech.zip - 10.7 mb
npcdata.zip - 38.6 kb
Sierra Gordo.zip - 4.56 mb
speech.zip - 19.2 mb

Let's see some suggestions how to organize them. Should I put them already in the final destination folders? Or let them as they are and post info on where to extract them on then download page?

The big zip is uploading right now. I've written and added a short readme.txt explaining where to extract the files. My connection with FilePlanet is at about 6k/sec so it will take about an hour to upload the 40 megs file. I'll put online the separate zips, too.

FilePlant will is mirroring the files once a day, so expect them to be ready for download tomorrow. Plus the interview.

One gripe guys. Is this one going to be publically available without having to sign up for the stupid File Planet personal fileserver, or is it only going to be available through that?

Hey
I just wanted to reiterate that I don't think people should get their hopes up. There is nothing really new in my campaign. I originally started this thread because I was done my campaign and trying to release it around the same time as JA2DL (that project somewhat overshadowed mine)not because I thought my campaign was kick ass.

Some things people should remember. Due to my lack of JA playing friends I got no one to test this campaign. I played through it several times and enjoyed it, but it's mine so I also had fun watching things come together. I have no idea if people will enjoy what I've created or if I have made a very egocentric campaign.

I think that the fiasco with the corrupted disk and all the resulting delays have sort of blown this baby out of proportion.

Go into playing this campaign like you would going in to watch a movie like "Anaconda". When you expect total shit, you are often pleasantly surprised.

nope - even if you try to convert all the maps using Gold utility, you will be unable to read dialog & game will crash on speach files cause it's names format was changed by Buka in different way.
You are to use english or englificated version.

P.S:Lack of info is not so fun like it looks like...

OK guys. Becoming X campaign is now loaded to File Planet.
39 megs downloaded in 13 minutes using ADSL. Would be similar with cable but with a modem HMMMM probably 3-4 hours or more depending on connection. The file is mirrored in 4 fast servers, no waiting. Shanga will break it into 2 smaller zips of around 20 megs each to help the modem users & post a seperate link to those files tomorrow.
Speech files alone are 19 megs being mainly for the RPCs.
So give us a day to load an interview we did with Becoming x plus the necessary links & news announcements.
Thanks Gappy Available at last.

Actually the "small version" has 9 zips, the largest being speech.zip (20 megs) and npc_speech.zip (11 megs). I'll put together a download page with links to them (plus instructions) on JAG soon after I finish uploading the last file (speech.zip).

Fred, have you downloaded the big zip? Uploading 40 megs isn't an easy job. Downloading it back to check the zip is too much for my 6k/sec speed. So, have you? Did the archive unizip properly?

If so, I will upload the last file today and Gappy owes me a beer.

Oh... good to hear that...

Interview is done and posted under JA Galaxy's Interviews section. Includes download links, but as I said, speech.zip won't be available today (FilePlanet upload facility crapped out on me again, so I had to FTP it directly and that means mirroring is done in 24 hours).

I guess Fred can now make the official announcements here and at JAG and invite everyone over for champagne.

Hi Warhawk, glad you find it interesting.

Ummm well I realized I messed up some passwords and left out some details in some of my readmes. So I have put an updated itmdsc25.edt and a new doc2.zip file at:

Sorry bout that.

Jay, no offence man, but you are dangerous with WinZip in your hand!

None of the fixes work. The archives came out empty. Why ain't I surpised?
Better e-mail me itemdesc and that doc and I'll update the small downloads from JAG (cannot do the same for the 50 megs file though, but I will zip the fixes and add them near it).

I see what's happened. The maps zip was loaded into the speech spot in error.
Shanga will need to load the correct file & alter that link. Sorry. Probably will be done by Monday.
The 39 Meg entire campaign file contains all the correct folders. If you have a good 56K modem connection this would probably take around 3-4 hours.

I just got broadband internet so I wanted to try downloading that 40meg campaign but the transfer speed is approximately 500 bits per second... that's not very convenient, is it because of the personal web-server service of GameSpy or something? Could it be hosted on a different server?
