Well, I got JA2 right when it came out, after having enjoyed JA and JA:DG. I played the campaign once, had a great time, but I played the first time on Expert and there was nothing really left. I shrugged, called it a good time and moved on.

Then, in another gaming forum, this game was mentioned, then Deidranna Lives, which lead me here, and now, I'm closing in on Meduna in DL. However, I just got UB for $10. I intend to play the original campaign, and then grab some of these mods.

So... I see the Vietnam mod...Is that any good?... and I see that UC is coming, out... Is there anything else I've missed in the past couple years that I should grab, having had a Jagged Alliance resurrection?

Welcome to the board, sheetbag! I urge You to register under a new nick though...

If You want information about user created campaigns, this is the place to post. Always remember that the quickest way to get proper answers is to post in proper threads.

There are a bunch of player-created stuff floating around, most notably the JA2 mods Deidranna Lives and the upcoming Urban Chaos. Smaller campaigns for the UB are also available, from 1-2 map mini-addons to an overhaul like SOG. Most of them You can find from the JA Galaxy site, I'll post a link later.

Unfortunatley I have very little hands-on-experience with these, so maybe other players can give You some friendly advice... :ok:

That Vietnam SOG 69-campaign rules. But remember to grab latest patch and read some information from this board ( Recoil Buffer = Laser scope etc ). Also remember to read SOG 69 REadme-file.

I'm sure after having this site so long, on the same game, you get tired of question repetion and misplaced posts. Sorry 'bout that.

All right, so '69 and UC it is. I like full Campaign overhauls, it gives me a whole new reason to play. Sometimes things get to be such classics that nobody mentions them anymore, because they're common knowledge, just didn't want to miss one of those.

Moderator warning under advisment, I'll dress up a new outfit.

Hi sheetbag,

Dedriana Live (DL) is a good mod too. It is a reworking of the JA2 game, so the mod is limited by the original map set, but all the maps have been altered, some different RPC's added (recruitable player-characters), and lots of neat toys and such. It is repetitive in the sense that the storyline moves forward in a similar way to JA2, but if you want to play through JA2 again, but with a big change in style and with a few cool surprises, check it out. (With something like 60,000 total downloads in multiple languages, those figures should speak for themselves.)

Vietnam SOG is very, very cool too. Make sure to get the patch for it, as well as follow the installation directions precisely. I don't believe you can play multiple campaigns with it (Like have UB, DL and SOG loaded at the same time) so I wouldn't try it. With the hacking of the codes that have been done, consider it something akin to genetic restructuring. The DNA strands have been replaced for specific reasons, but use the clone for a reason other than why it was created, and you'll find the defects.

How is cloning not akin to beastiality? What is the difference between boinking a monkey and boinking a human? (Beastiality) Thus, how can you argue that altering the DNA of humans, which has evolved over millions and millions of years - very carefully, and often brutally - is the same as using science to cut and paste DNA from different people and animals into an egg? Note to scientists - you don't put a Toyota muffler on a Mack truck.

Anyway, that's a different kind of MOD. Sorry for the rant, just had to get it out somewhere!

Flame warning!
Just noting that nobody should take up Sidetracks rant on genetics and cloning... Flame potential is too great, and JA2 content low. So no discussion about that, OK?

Hi Uzi and all,

:scary:

I had forgotten I had even written that rant here last night in the very weeeee hours of the morning until I read it. Sad I first read "Flame Warning" and I'm thinkin'; what's all that jazz? Is this some kind of gay thing? Then I read on trying to figure out what was up, and realized that my post was the subject! :blah:

In the words of the late, great Richard the Lionhearted: "It's all good. Jus' boogie-chillun'."
