I will download it anyway, but no-sound version sounds interesting. Well, unless it will take much time, it`s worth a try, otherwise you don`t need to worry. I will simply use Gozilla and spend some big time here untill it`s all downloaded. Thaks Becoming X for such great mod. :ok:

Hey

Good point about being halfway done in december and not done yet. But remember I was in Asia for four months and got back in May. I've got one more map to make, then a bunch of little things. Voice stuff for some NPC's and mission briefings. Then I need to get the final sectors tested for bugs and stuff. And then it'll be done. I think testing will take the most time, as two of my three are in Spain or something. Jeez like that's better than sitting at home in front of a cpu screen.

Soon, it'll be done soon. Also don't forget I have to airmail it too Shanga so that will take a while too.

Hi everyone

Just wanted to report in that all the maps are finished for my vietnam mod. Just have to record dialogue for about four more NPC's, and write up some briefings and the mod will be finished.

However there will still be a period of testing to make sure that the maps work and are balanced (resonably) well.
So maybe I will be finished for September. I guess. I hope so.

Well that's it for now.

Hey Everyone

Just posting to say that I've uploaded the final version of my Vietnam Mod to Shanga and that means that it will soon be available to everyone at the bearspit.

It's called Vietnam SOG'69:
some things to remember about it.
-Make sure you have the patch for JA2UB, updated to ver. 1.1
-my mod writes weapons changes to the JA2UB exe so if you want to revert back to the original JA2UB you should have an original copy of the UB myweaponsUB.txt handy.
-play it on experienced with tons of guns
-it's not meant to be played with imported saves from JA2, might make it a bit too easy.
-Don't talk too much to Ruiz, he replaced Conrad and will attack you for no reason, (tried to change that but no joy) just recruit him.

If you want to see some screenshots head to
www.vietnamsog69.50megs.com
click on screens, I've added some new ones so make sure you go right to the end.

Have fun! Hopefully this will kill some time before UC comes out.

OUTSTANDING! From the screenshots and descriptions it looks like you gave this one a lot of time and effort.

Out of curiosity, will it be compatible with JA2:UB "Gold" or should I just use my original JA2:UB to be safe? Perhaps there was no change between the two versions of JA2:UB so I wont' have to worry about it anyway.

Anyway, thanks in advance, hopefully it will be up soon.

-Tampa

Fileplanet is experiencing heavy demands on it's servers so you will find the download is coming down about half speed at 25K a second taking around 21 minutes with cable or ADSL.
Just go to the link, select on of the two lower public servers & press "Download" No waiting when America sleeps but can be delays during US daylight hours.

You know what happened to the donkey who couldn't decide between the food and the water, uh?

Contacting two admins separately and making both of them to spend time to download and upload 40 megs isn't nice, Jay, isn't nice at all...

But I'll let this one pass since I know you were in a hurry and we go a long way back...

So, as soon as Linx figures out how to properly link the corrected ReadMe from the /ja2ub/bx/sog/ and whatever of the .exe's he wants, the download will be ready...

Nice MOD but some things are strange

1. the start Sector (Snow) ?
2. the weapon damage... weapons are useless against enemys, they take 3 to 10 damage each hit and ammo runs out after the first sector.

@ Head_Hunter
The first sector can not be modified in UB. The weapon damage is a debatable subject, personaly I like to play with high damage, so if you really consider this option, I think you can use a weapon editor.
There are people here knowing more than me on compatibility and technical stuff, so I guess if you ask nicely, they will answer you...

@ Becoming X

Very nice work, I installed it last night and play few hours, the idea is nicely implemented, and I bet it was a lot of work involved.
Also I liked the surprise I got in the vilage..hehe, that was realy nice Very Happy
I liked the graphics too, the weapons are very nice done.
Thanks again for the hard work and the time you spent to bring this MOD to us.

Hey Bexoming X I downloaded the mod the other night and I have to say it is very good and you can see that you put a lot of work into it. I personally like how the weapons mod is implemented. The only thing that is a bit frustrating is that the enemies seem to have no problem throwing (and hitting their targets) with grenades but whenever I use them due probably to the jungle terrain it has a black target on the ground. Lastly this is probably explained in the readme but where is the teleport to go to the Iron triangle?

Thanks for a great mod while we eagerly await JA2 UC.

Hey everyone

@Calavera- you can import a save game from JA2 but in my own opinion it would unbalance the mod but dowutchalyke. That will also make recruiting Tex impossible I think.

@Headhunter- I wrote in the read me about stuff I didn't change, the start sector's one of them. As for low weapons damage and running out of ammo. Try to get close to the enemy, the jungle is thick and you can get pretty close to make your shots count.

@Brio- again the jungle terrain in the mod is fairly thick. After a while you get used to it and can start spotting which mercs will have a shot with grenades and who won't, it takes time. Same applies here, try to get your mercs close by using the jungle as cover. As for the Iron Triangle I actually didn't say this in the read me, but you can reach it by using the helipad at Tay Ninh base.

Before reaching the first village, it`s the hardest campaign I`ve ever played. You have crappy weapons, give low damage and face lots of enemies.
But it gets better later in the game.
I have to admit this. I love Spooky. No, I`m not gay, but he`s so damn cool.
His "No more boom boom for charlie" and "Hold up, that`s not part of everyday flora and fauna." are easily at level with original sir-tech ones and will soon make it into thread called Funniest quotes.
Great, great job Becoming X.

OK, after a few bumps with Gold UB I have a few questions (they did not even bother to update the version shipped with Gold - it still registered as 1.00f when I loaded it up. So I patched it to U.S. 1.01 - I think this is the latest, right?) Anyway, with regards to the Vietnam campaign, did anyone else see the error when it loaded in the maps at the start of a new campaign - the error said "error loading map N9 total population must be less than 32 people" or something to that effect. Is this intentional?

Congrats X, you've really excelled this time, from what I've played so far your mod is comparable in quality to the original JA2. I was very impressed by the installer, makes everything alot easier. Its good to see that you made the mod challenging, I've reached Tay Ninh and the quality of the weapons still makes the game somewhat challenging. Thanks for this great mod.

Real good job X! Getting to Tay Ninh was a blast, I wasn't sure I was going to make it. The scarce ammo made it a challenge, but everytime I ran out somebody droped some POS gun with few rounds of ammo which allowed me to squeek by.
