1 - Is there any way to get a little more cash than the little bits laying around? I attacked L-15, the one that supposedly had the tax collector in it, and got around $1500, but I need a little more to get someone with good leadership. I didn't think about getting anyone with leaderships till I was well into the game.

2 - I've been playing it a few days now, I'm still in the Iron Triangle trying to make sure I do all that I can do while I'm here. Ruiz attacked me in the beginning, and got wasted, but apparently that's normal. However, now whenever I enter the sector with Spooky, Taylor and Sarge, they all go aggressive when I get close, and get wasted by the militiat. I'd like to maybe recruit them later on, so I don't want them getting blasted. Anyone know why they're going aggressive on me?

There's $5,000 (I think that's the amount)laying under a pile of rubble in the northern part of the Tay Ninh city sector. You need to sit through the militia fight and use dynamite clear the rubble and get it.

There is a bug for Ruiz and some other recruitable characters. I forget how it works, I think it's outlined in posts futrher back on this thread.

I wasn't planning on recruiting any of those guys anyway, but I don't want it to screw up a subquest or anything. As long as it doesn't screw up any of the little sideplots I can do then I don't really care. I don't really go for the cheesy animations and crap voice acting. Not putting the mod down, I like it, but yeah those little moving lips suck.

Anyway what's the deal with the $5000 under a pile of rubble? Does someone in the game tell you about it or how are you supposed to find out about it? That seems like a pretty weird spot to stash money unless an NPC hints about it.

Also, how's the tax collector thing supposed to work anyway? The readme says he will come down the trail at L15 and you can whack him and take his cash. I went to L15, but it was pretty much a normal fight. No tax collector as far as I know, and the only money I found was about $1500 in a cabinet or something. Is that how it's supposed to work, or do I need to do something to get him to come through?

Spooky is the only one worth having. You can set the other three on practice marksmanship and never get them above 75. But Spooky, I've cleared entire sectors with just him during night fights, just a continuing series of interrupts, silenced bursts and throwing knives. He's the only character I've ever been able to sneak up behind an enemy for a knifing in any of the JA games (that may be due to a lack of skill on my part) Not having them dosen't ruin sidequests though.

No one tells you about the money under the rubble. I noticed it on the sector inventory screen, sent someone for it and found it was inaccessable without a liberal application of high explosives.

I don't know if the tax collector is implied to be one of the red shirts, that's always one thing I've wondered about too. I suppose that money in the shack in L15 is supposed to be it.

It's a fun little mod all in all, but it sometimes lacks consistency, and the deal with pasting new files into the data folder was a major inconvenience. I still played it all the way through. My biggest complaint was that even though the author, BecomingX, strived admirably for a level of historical "feel" and included a great number of period items and weapons, many of the long-arms are somewhat (unrealistically) unavailable until the later stages of the game, and in the final stages one doesn't really require them. That said, the Stoner LMG w/scope, rod-spring, and bipod is one of the best weapons in the game and is totally worth doing the side quest for.

Spoiler

Try the sector south of L15 and you might find the one you're looking for ... (IIRC)

Thanks for the help. I was wondering if I was not getting the full experience of the game, but apparently I'm doing okay. I did take out some sectors south of L15, and I remember getting a fair amount of cash from a couple of them, I think the money was in chests. Later on I gathered up all the Med Kits, first aid kits, knives, vests and the like and sold all I could to Betty. I've gotten $8,000 from her so far before she ran out of money. I'm up to about $20,000 again, but I'd like to see if I can save up for Gus, because I've never had him in any of the JA games (except JA:DG of course.)

I like the mod and all, but I was hoping it would be a little more immersive. I remember playing a Vietnam mod for JA:DG that kicked ass. Since JA:DG was different and had "missions" instead of a big open map, it had advantages and allowed more variety in things you could do, such as taking photographs, assassinations and the like. Of course you give up the ability to go wherever you want like JA and JA2 and such, but it was still cool.
