Day 21 00:01hrs : Having arrived at the Prax Mental Hospital we position ourselves in the northwest corner of the sector. Silently we move south along the perimeter of the hospital. Tex is taking point and creeps over to the corner of the wall near the front entrance to the hospital proper. Tex moves around the corner, and seeing that the coast is clear he motions for us all to move up. We move up to the front entrance and all of us ascend to the roof. We are fortunate no one has seen nor heard us yet. As we set up on the roof to oversee various areas of the hospital grounds, Tex spots a soldier crouching below him. A quick burst from his suppressed Bizon and the soldier is taken care of, permanently ( 68 damage ). Tex moves back from the edge and spots another soldier coming to see what happened to his comrade. More than one soldier has heard the burst from Tex

Day 21 10:10hrs : Galileo seems to be under the constant assault by the Danubian army. Sector G-9 was just attacked by twelve army regulars. The attack was quickly put to rest, with no militia killed. This may just be the start of a brutal series of attacks on the city of Galileo.

Day 21 19:03hrs : We have finished training the locals to defend the SAM site and are preparing to move out, heading back to Galileo. We gathered up everything we might need and start the long walk.

Day 21 21:29hrs : We have arrived back at our makeshift HQ here in Galileo. We are going to dump our goods and equip our new members with proper weapons and armor. We will do some training to replace the few militiamen that have been killed in attacks by the Danubian army while we have been gone.

Day 22 11:29hrs : Once again, we have been attacked by the Danubian army. This time they have assaulted the Calisto Airport with twelve regular troops. The Calisto militia performed brilliantly and killed all the intruders without the loss of a single militiaman.

Day 22 13:00hrs : We just finished training all the replacement militiamen for the defense of Galileo. Hick has been told by some of the civilians that we might be able to sell some of our excess supplies in the town of Gotham a few miles to the west of us. Reuban has confirmed this information and even told us of a man named Jake who can get gas for us. Reuban also told us about Jake

Headshot,

As always, thanks for the journal. Since we're in to details here, how have your mercs progressed/advanced since the start of the campaign? What are their stats? How are they equipped? What's your plan of attack for the rest of the campaign? Always interested in the micro-management aspect...

Regards,

Lizard

Day 22 22:22hrs : Kevin Cameron AKA Maddog was more than willing to join our group and Reuban went over and talked with Jake, who offered to sell us Gas. We sold off a bunch of the junk we picked up and equipped Maddog for the mission ahead.

As for what the future holds for our group of rag tag mercenaries, where they will go and what they will encounter, you will just have to stay tuned and see how things turn out.

Day 23 22:44hrs : We have arrived in sector I-13 and broken up into three fire teams. Two fires have set up near a fenced gate along the north eastern edge of the sector and the third fire team is set up in a line of trees near the northwestern gate. Maddog has gotten up on the roof of a small guard building and Rosebud and Spike are set up to cover the small stream and pond area on that same side of the roadway. Hick and Tex are on the eastern side of the roadway with a good view of the entrance to the walled compound. Kelly is set up right next to the outer wall near Hick to prevent anyone from sneaking up on the group from the south. Rude Dog, Skitz and Reuban are behind a number of trees just south of the northwestern gate. They will blow a hole in the wall with a couple 40mm grenades after Hick and Rosebuds teams draw attention to the east side of the sector.

Day 23 22:50hrs : Hick moves up to the fenced gate and cuts a hole with her wire cutters and then retreats back to her hiding spot next to a tree. Kelly moves inside the compound and up between the wall and a building. Hick spots a camouflaged soldier near the hole she cut in the fence. Her Dragunov spits out a round, which impacts the soldier

Day 24 00:18hrs : The sector is heavily covered by buildings and fences. We split up into our fire teams Hick, Tex, Kelly in the northwestern corner, Rosebud, Maddog, Spike in the center of the western edge, Rude Dog, Reuban, and Skitz in the southwestern area between a building and a fence. Rosebud and his team start to move north when they encounter a soldier standing in the middle of the roadway. Rosebud equipped with his suppressed Bizon fires a pair of bursts into the soldier ( 44, 51 damage ) dropping him silently to the pavement. Maddog spots a soldier running off, away from the group, and out of range of his Scorpio, so he lets him go. Spike spots a soldier creeping up from their rear and stops him in his tracks with two bursts from his suppressed MP5 ( 48, 43 damage ). Another soldier runs out from around the corner of one of the buildings and fires a single shot which hits Maddog in the back ( 12 damage ). The sound of the soldiers weapon will be heard a long distance and the group knows the time for subtlety is over. Maddog grabs his CZ 700 M1 and puts a 7.62mm round into the soldiers forehead ( 91 damage ) killing him. The soldier that had run off is now back and Maddog greets him with a shot from his sniper rifle. The round blows through the soldiers head and it explodes like a watermelon, in a spray of blood and brain matter ( 112 damage ).

I've been reading your narrative off and on since its inception. Thanks for all the hard work headshot. Very entertaining! I might even try ironman! What I have tried, I dont know if any of you have ever done this but, tried to complete the game without using guns (knives and hand to hand only). I have been very succesful (I havent beaten it yet) but I have taken over 4 cities. Really difficult and requires alot of saving/reloading. Anyways, thx again headshot, keep up the good work!

Soon Rude Dog spots a soldier in front of one of the green houses. A burst from his RPD and the soldier is no longer a threat ( 118 damage ). Tex then interrupts a soldier in one of the greenhouses, who gets a round from Tex

Hi Headshot:

Very enjoyable reading. I've just finished my first game of UC, though I admit to using the reload function from time to time. I understand that a true Ironman game must be quite exciting; however, I can also imagine that plays somewhat slow because you might feel to proceed more cautiously than otherwise (I assume you would not send someone boldly around a corner without appropriate cover, ne c'est pas?, which in turn means that you must work a lot on the right positioning of your mercs). In fact, that's arguably part of the fun, but probably more often than not, there is nothing exciting around the corner, and your effort to bring your mercs in a good position was wasted. At least that was my impression when I tried to play more "Ironman"

Best

Hiro

Sorry for the long delay in this Ironman saga ... my mother has cancer and from time to time I have to go help her with things that take me a 120 miles from home for a week or two at a time. I am now back at home and should have another part to the saga tomorrow or the next day as I get back into playing and writing it all down.

Again sorry for the delay.

Day 25 01:28hrs : Rude Dog approaches Hick and tells her that he believes they should not head back to Troy yet. He wants to head west to attack a large group of troops amassed a short distance away. They will be fighting along a river and should have the element of surprise. Hick agrees and they let the others know the plans for the battle ahead.

Day 25 04:00hrs : We arrive in the sector J-12 and find 30 troops defending it. As we deploy we encounter four soldiers who seem to be waiting for us but we get the jump on them and have the advantage. Rosebud singles out the closest soldier and fires his G3 into the mans back. Two of the rounds tear into the soldier ( 54 damage ) and he collapses dying on the ground. The third round misses the soldier but hits another one of the enemy in the side wounding him ( 24 damage ). Rude Dog picks out the next closest soldier and squeezes the trigger of his RPD. The burst rips into the soldier killing his instantly ( 143 damage ). Skitz aims his AKS-74 at the soldier that was inadvertently wounded by Rosebud. He carefully aims and them as he pulls the trigger he goes crazy and fires a burst instead. The burst hits the soldier in the chest and tears him apart ( 76 damage ) with a hail of lead, killing him. Rude Dog fires a second burst at the forth soldier and critically wounds him ( 53 damage ), and Tex follows up with a round from his Dragunov killing the soldier ( 31 damage ). With the four soldiers now dead the group waits for a retaliation from the enemy. They don

I am very sorry for the long delays lately. I have been busy doing to many things in real life. Thank you all for your concerns, thoughts, and prayers. My life is a bit upside down, but want you all to know I still play from time to time, and that finding the time to play and write at the same time is tough. So without further delay here is the next chapter in the Ironman Saga...

Day 26 01:18hrs : After being picked up by chopper and flown back to Troy, we unload all our gear and discuss our next move. We can hit another sector tonight, or get back to training militia and make our next assault around 21:00hrs. We decide to take a chance, and make a preemptive strike on the city of Rudesa. We tell Goose to drop us off in sector J-12 and we will hike south to sector K-12.

Day 26 03:26hrs : After being dropped off and hiking for about 2 hours we arrive in Rudesa. We set up in the middle of the northern edge of the sector and work our way over to a large covered garage, with a flat roof. Rude Dog and Maddog sneak over to the back wall of the garage and ascend to the roof. As they move about, they spot a couple soldiers moving around to the southeast, near a building called the Shady Lady. Another soldier is spotted near a pickup truck, in the parking lot of Ray
