There is a patch from Dvornik that allows you to use the 90210 code in the gold version of Jagged Alliance 2.
This code is active in versions 1.03 but was disabled by version 1.06.
Urban Chaos is based on version 1.07, so this code will not work.
You can edit the IMP file (you have to first have a custom merc created to make this file) but you will need the 90210 code activated in order to use the file. (The 90210 imports the data from IMP.dat instead of having you answer questions to create a new custom merc.
To edit the IMP file, you will need to find an editor. I use the All In One Editor version 1.2 that I found on the Lords of the Bytes website. It has a glitch around custom male merc voices #1 and #2 that you may need to use a hex editor to get around. Going from memory, the ALL-IN-ONE EDITOR Has a problem saving the custom merc for male voice #1 or male voice#2. I think it changes voice #1 to voice #2, or vice versa. All you need to do is use a hex editor (there are free ones you can download - I'd try TUCOWS), and change the very first byte of the IMP.dat FILE TO "33" if you want male voice #1, or "34" if you want male voice #2. The numbers equate to character slots 51 and 52, as custom merc character # determines the voice of the custom merc.
That said, the easiest thing would probably be to just create a new custom merc with the personality you want, pick the voice and face you want, and then use JAPE to edit the statistics for your custom merc to be what you want. You can also edit equipment.
JAPE can be used from the moment the merc is in your roster, so you can use it to edit starting equipment before your merc lands in country.
