I was hoping it was some kind of attachment for a weapon, but I haven't yet found anything that it will attach to. I might very well be wrong, though.

Use it on CAR-15.

14:7 twist barrel + CAR-15 = Colt M4.

Colt M4 with trigger group = M4A1

But I don't have the foggiest what changes are made to the gun. I don't notice any stat improvement. The only thing that really changes is its appearance. Or am I missing something?

Umm.... no? So it fires a longer burst? (I never use burst, I have to conserve ammo, as I don't have any large stockpiles. It is cruel the way that you have to switch guns more often in UC because the enemy does not have and does not drop the bullets.

You can get huge boxes of 5.56 HP ammo from Bobby. Each of my M4 mercs carry one of those.

And the upgrade to M4A1 is worth it because afterwards you can further improve the weapon, adding scope and talon.

My Enemy's often got armor so it's nearly useless to take HP Ammo...:/

Nope, you are wrong. Unlike JA2, HP bullets kick butt in UC. Ok, you need first to would your enemy and damage his armour, but once that's done, it's almost an instant kill. HP is also very usefull when you have many incoming enemies, charging your position. A shot to the legs does 19 damage and knocks them out flat, sometimes for a couple of rounds.

Yeap, a three round HP burst can do miracles even versus elites. The first bullet does around 2-3 damage, the second 30-40 and the last about 50.

Really? Christ! I got a box of HP ammo, and dropped it when I started taking Calisto because that is where it became useless in JA2. Well, my AP ammo problem is solved, with Bobby and Tony now stocking the stuff.

I have never considered shooting at the legs of an enemy. I always preferred to do torso or head damage, as it might throw off his aim or wipe out his energy bar...

Of course, but once wounded (and most enemies don't have leg protection), they are easy targets.

nope, they did change, range goes from 20 to 25, and I think damage increases slightly too (you'll have to check that yourself)

also, the ammo used switches from .223 to 5.56, ao make sure you use up your .233 first if you're short on 5.56 Smile
