Shady mentions that some of the guys have the flu, but come back later, as there'll be more mercs. I've been a few times and he only had the initial 3 (hired all 3). Anyone come across any more?

Originally Shady was supposed to have Rude Dog or Elhi or both in his stable .... with an added trick.
We placed them in a couple Adrian maps in addition to Shady cellar set to random so there was always a 33% chance that each time you visited Shady Rude & Elhi who are free would be there for hire as one of the "more mercs later".

But since both these RPCs have extensive "guided tour of Danubia" speeches same as Ira, Dimitri, Miguel, Carlos these would be wasted by meeting them too late in the game.

I guess we could have prepared another DG merc to act as "more mercs" through using same principle of random encounter, but creating 7 DG mercs was about Zephalo's limit .... lots of splicing & editing :computer2:

There is a basement sector accessed in the Galilio southeast sector. This is the same sector you access from the subway below. The basement map should look familiar once you enter, if you played JA2 much... Wink

Well i did waste him, but he didn't had those 20 grand on him anymore. And Spike and Kelly turned hostile after that, os i didn't try it again.
thankuflly i have enough money anyway. ($40000+) isnce , Calisto, Troy and Galileo factories give enough per day to coever all my costs.

Yeah, but if so, you can also add Mr. Goose, as he is Leon, and the Cargo Manager, as he was Bob, so that doesn't count.

Also, you can add Tex, as he was in DG but not in normal JA2.

So, how many Faces(!) of DG-mercs are available?

Next to Reuban, Skitz, Postie, Kelly, Snake and Spike, who else has a FACE of another DG Merc?

I read, there is Leon, Bob, anyone else?

As it seems, there are a lot links to Metavira; perhaps Batman took a lot from the -unfinished- "Return to MV" Mod ???

There could have been another person: "NPC 065"
who could have been placed into that cellar.....

And where to find Elhi ?

The 7th DG merc is in Adrian .... not for hire though, just making a cameo appearance.

I guess there are 9 DG counting Rosebud & Tex but only 8 hireable.

Others who were considered.

Marty "Kaboom" Moffat.

"Mike" .... was at one time planned to be recruitable .... as a spy & traitor who turned on the team when triggered by a scripted event.

"Gaston" from UB was planned to join MERC.
"Stogie" from UB was also planned to join MERC.
The MERC casualties to facilitate Gaston & Stogie would have probably been Biff & Haywire.
Flo became Ayana & Bubba became Morgan .... sorta miss Bubba though.
Jubilee was inherited from Deidranna Lives to replace Buns.

RPC65 is vacant.
It may be possible to create another recruitable local for RPC65 .... depending on several factors.

1. Wodan makes a face.

2. Someone writes 75 lines of dialogue.

3. Someone records 75 lines of dialogue.

4. Traiblazer takes all the above, cleans up the waves, creates gaps then fixes up a script.

As for Elhi. :nerd: :rolleyes: :eek4:
Her face & virtually all waves were finished but the cleaned up versions were accidentally trashed so Trailblazer will eventually re-edit & clean up the raw data originals which still survive & we need her to record a few more.
Something for the expansion pack.

Yeah, curious about this too, since I don't remember his Wis being this low in JA. In fact, the new Wis values are a little surprising. Biff apparently had a brain transplant (Wis 98!), while Spike is dumber than Rosebud.

Who knows? Maybe it's a balance issue, to keep already powerful guys from improving too fast.

There is very little difference between 50 wisdom and 98 wisdom, especially for an already elite merc like Spike.

The stats are odd though. "Colonel" Leo Kelly has about 1/4 the leadership of Biff, for example. I don't think so. :biglaugh:

I've got Spike in my A team. As I see it, his wisdom is irrelevant as his stats are already at least what I need. Wisdom's mainly for mercs like Spider, who have potential, but a lot of work to do. Spike's already there.

Yeah, Spike's low wisdom doesn't make a difference in practical terms. But it doesn't make sense either. Did he suffer a head wound from previous wars or something?

Hmmm, so it seems, there is room for a "Jonas Edition" again....

I already did a "custom" Prof.dat with some "improvements" as Raven has NO again, Gasket is now a lockpick expert, fixed the "Claudia"-Bug etc., now I will (re-)insert 2 missing slots; well that means, I will have to change two maps....

No, I DONT have custom speech and texts.....
So I will take 2 RPCs from the Original....
Perhaps Dimitri and Miguel ?

Is there a robot in UC?
If yes, then it seems, that he is a bit weak, I will try to boost him up; striker armor and such...

I wonder, if it would be allowed to post my "addon" when its finished ???

So, I did it (again)!
I modified some things in prof.dat and added the 2 "missing" RPCs ... looks cool!

Now Elhi is there (Now I know, WHY she was left out....)
Also is Manuel (from UB) a POW in a cell next to Mirinda; wounded of course Wink))
(pity, he still has the original dialoque....)

I can now try it out.....UC_JE Wink))

just on the whereabts of Shady's..is it the SE sector of Galileo where there's also the subway building in the northwest, and Shady's is the basement where there are a lot of locked doors and a reception-like counter when u first descend from the stairs?

I hired Kelly but had no use for Cobra. Used to check back there from time to time to meet Spike.

Since I didn't meet him yet I am just wondering if I have to recruit Cobra in order to get Spike available? Or are not all mercs available in one game and do I just have bad luck?

First time you enter the room all 3 mercs should be present & available.
There were unconfirmed reports that on subsequent visits they appear randomly .... which shouldn't occur. They are set to appear permanently till hired.

That's a shame. Spike is the most useful I find. I put him in my A team. Heavy Weapons expert is just great for all the heavy weapons in UC. Kelly and Cobra have been more than useful in my B team as well.
