I had a one man starting team, and immediately hired rosebud because hes free and is very strong. then i got guns off those enemies that attacked...

Then i stole better weapons from the police station in atremo - Close the door and then he wont see you steal them Wink

I started the game with my IMP Merc Alone. Plus the MERC French girl(many players hate her)later. That's really enough.
This campain provide you enough NPC that can be hired.

First time starter...
Wolf,Fox,Grizzly,cause they are all h2h or m.a(Wolf)now.
What,when arriving without weapons...

I recruited Rosebud(crowbar),I didn't knew there was a stealthy-n.o Rude Dog to hire immediately,or Ayana as a (not so)great markswoman...
So,about IMPchar,I started with a NO-teaching IMP,hlth,wis,agi 85,dex. & mrk. 80,the rest at 35.He didn't let me down,as always,developed really fast.

I'm thinking about restarting on expert, with a NO-ex.,though a lockpicking-AW girl exerces some seducing charms on me.Just don't choose female voice 3,in case you are also seduced by Jubilee. Wink

In JA2, Grunty was one of the must have guys because he was cheap and effective.

For UC, I find the IMP good enough for the killing, so the number one person I automatically grab is Barry for his lockpicking/electronics. The number 2 person I grab is MD. Those two gained quickly and both are now my snipers.

IMP - NO/AW
Barry - LP/Ele
MD - Knifing/Teach
Jubilee - Honestly, I would rather have Buns back. lol

My IMP is usually a night ops/stealth (my preference is the night ops scenario), I hire Wolf and Jubilee, and grab up Rossebud when I land. I clear the first two sectors of Atremo with this crew, then pick up Rude Dog. I then make haste to Calisto, clear the first sector and recuirt Tex. I work at clearing the sector and save $ and hire Treavor. This is my basic team till the north of the map is cleared. If the money is available, I then get ahold of Raven and/or Buzz (love her attitude towards men:)). Magic is usually added 2/3 way through the game. I end up hiring Bull and Grizzley to haul, sell, and repair.

I went with Steroid and Hitman.

Steroid, well, because...let's just say we "have a connection" Wink and Hitman because he's cheap and a damn good shot.

I don't know why you guys don't like Ayana, she's badass. In my game, she's walking around with 98 Marskmanship w/ a silenced m4, killing everything that moves.

90's agility
90's dex
80's leadership
90 marksmanship

What's not to like? She's cheap as dirt, and her voice is a lot less abrasive than that of some of the other chicks, who are a little too much "man" for me.

Yup. Ayana with a scoped silenced M4A1 is lethal. Headshots (1-shot kills) are not uncommon in my game.
The only downside is that they used Flo's lines and voice. Seems inconsistent with the killing machine that she is.

Ayana is a killer. And actually, though sort of inapropriate, Flo's voice on her sort of works.

there's another post on Ayana somewhere ... (?least fave mercs, or something)

Actually, the reason many people hate her is she's too damned good. Outshines some of the best squaddies, yet has that sniveling voice.

iirc, the Modders had forgot to add a "0" to her daily cost - her bio says that she's "overpriced", but at $500 she's a steal!
{even at $5000, she would be imbalancing. Especially with M.E.R.C. cos you don't have to pay. I adjusted her in my game with ProEdit: same stats, but reduced her level to 1 and doubled her cost - and gave her a "psycho" personality trait, couldn't resist}

Flo's voice kinda works.

Her self-preservationist instincts work well on a fragile 'lil skeet shooter. Smile

Just started a new game with Raider, Raven, and Jubilee. Gonna add some people I never use, like Static and Red.

Static is quite needed in UC imo, if nothing else for the lockpick skills Wink Plus he's my MGer and quite good at it, delivering tight bursts through long distances.

Malice i found well worth (hadn't tried him before) in a stealthy gunner role together with my IMP.

For the rest I use Raider as a sniper MD as backup and a very good medic and Rude usually as supportive firepower (or main, depending on situation but i prefer stealth).

I don't always use the best people . I like using mostly all the mercs , so a new game means a new team . Might start with Fox , Wolf , and Grizzly or maybe Hitman , Grunty , and Igor . Just depends what combo of mercs i want to use this time around . I always use the mercs relationships to make my teams .

Hi all. Just started UC and Im using this starting team:

- Me: (auto-weapows and night-ops, as always)Great stats, no skills besides mrk

- Grizzly: He is cheap and efficient. Always in my starting teams. Not the best merc, but ot has lots of strenght to open things, and is decent in several other areas. And I just like him.

- Jubille: Dint liked this girl much. I loved Buns, I always had Buns in my starting teams in JA2. But since they replaced her with this annoying Angelina Jollie clone, I had no choice. She got good mrk, dex, agility, winsdow and decent mechanical and medical.

- Wolf: Night ops, good mrk, mechanical and explosives, great stats(strengh, aggility and dexterity)

They are all good soldires and, with Wolf and Jubille on the team, there is no need for a full-time doctor, mechanic or explosives expert. Four soldiers is also a good number to start with: no too many, not too few.
