Hallo All,

Picked up a remote control (same as the one that opened up the secret area in the original JA2 Demo) in sector I14 (SE Troy) and havent been able to find anywhere to use it - have been carrying it around for the last dozen game days... If its something I'll need later on Ok, but if I missed whereever in Troy it was supposed to be used, please let me know.
Thanks

You can use it to set off explosives with remote detonators attached.

Some explosives only allow remote detonators .... claymore is one of them.

In JA2 a couple mercs came with a remote ... Trevor .... not any more.
You need to find or buy remote controllers in UC.

@ Bearpit: No, it isn't a remote detonator, it's just a... Remote control. Like the one you used to open te secret passageway to the queen's palace in JA2.
I too have been wondering where this baby goes...

more about claymores...

I've found 4 claymores so far, there's a REGULAR detonator attached to every single one of 'em, not remote. Why?

and then there's this:

One of the enemies in the SAM site (just east of Calisto) was carrying a Dragunov with PSO-1 attached to it (on the roof). Normally you can't attach a PSO-1 to Dragunov. Well, at least it's not mentioned in the possible attachments list. Are there a lot of enemies with 'custom' weapons like this or is this a bug?

I have 3 dragunovs i've stole or picked up that all have scopes attatched. I found if i take it off I can't put it back on. But I dont know if it really gives me any bonuses to shooting. I should get one of my unscoped dragonovs and see what happens.

The scopes are a bug. You cannot use them with the sniper systems because these weapons already have integrated scopes. If you find one, report where you found it. Also, you get no bonuses for using the bugged weapons.

Read these threads for more info.

Now, back to the topic.

I have found a remote control (not remote detonator) somewhere around Adrian. Like McKnight, I'm stumped as to what it does. So far, I can't get it to so much as change a channel or open a garage. I thought we might find a remote controlled toy car that we could attach some HE to. That might be cool.

I've found two or three of those remote controls (NOT remote detonators). Have never found them to do anything useful.

Not in my experience. I attach normal detonators to claymores and satchel charges all the time.

It has been many many years, and Ive played a whole lotta JA2 since - but if I recall, in the JA2 Demo (hands up anyone who didnt play this through 20 times whilst waiting for the actual release) you found the remote in a drawer at the south end of the underground complex. From there you could use the remote on the north wall of the easternmost room to open up the secret area.

However, I cant actually remember if there was anything much interesting down there - led to the creature cave, but cant remember any details.

Now, back to my original post - surely *someone* has both found the remote in UC and also worked out what it is good for ?!?!?!

I, too have found a remote control (in Troy AFAIK). If the game designers did not intend for it to be there, then it was probably just a map-making error. So, I am not getting my hopes up. I forget the range of the remote (or if it even has one), but if you feel like testing it in every sector then I won't stand in your way. Very Happy

[/QB][/QUOTE]

I find them in every game on the guards on the roof tops at the Calisto SAM site, on the roof tops guards in Tony's sector in Port Kip, in Smithy's sector in Port Kip (3 of them, one drops from a redshirt when he is killed, the other two I steal from the roof tops guards). The roof tops guards Dragunovs don't drop if they are shot, stealing is the only way to get hold on them.
I don't think that after so much time this is a SPOILER, so I always found a Vepr with PSO-1 sniper scope sout of Port Kip (E5).

OK, to beleaguer a point here.
The REMOTE CONTROL in question is not the REMOTE BOMB TRIGGER that you gents keep referring to.
A remote bomb trigger is self explanatory while the remote control is a mystery.
Hell, I don't even know what the damn thing is for except maybe changing the channel on TV during down time.

Given all the confusion here what with them being called almost the same thing, and looking the same, and with no-one finding a use for it, I'd bet the whoever populated the map just picked the wrong item (or put it there just to make everyone run round Troy madly clicking at everything :diabolical: ).

I have been clicking like crazy all around Adrian and cannot find the use of the 'Remote Control' unit. Argh.... this is one of those "Keeps me up all night sniping . . . " kind of problems.

Who ever said you had to stop playing the demo when you finaly got the retail of JA2? yes i still play the demo, for the unique map, the remote (in the demo) is found and used in the basement, use it in that room where you normaly find a cammo kit (with all the bloody beds n stuff) its in the top right most room i think, as for UC, i think i've used it before in adrian, one sector above the palace.

in the ja2 demo the remote is only there for opening a passage to a deeper tunnel with some monsters....

but yea i found that remote in I14 too... whats its use? in ja2 original there was a place in meduna where you could use it (or blast the statue Wink )to get to deidrannas hideout via a tunnel ... so maybe there is some use in an adrian sector? anybody knows?
