Although I do agree with the point you're trying to make, Wudu, I don't see why you should jump on Sturmblade like that. Rather agressive, really.
This is a JA forum, not a language course forum.
Uhm, but now we are all saying our piece anyway,
I think European's, living in an environment in which they are more easily confronted with other languages, develop more of a feeling for learning languages. The French and the Italians are an exception to that, the belgians an example.
And the Americans quite lost the skill entirely.
(of course they don't really need it anyway)
By the way, Maddog, are you being ironically,, or do you really believe that coke or coffee are better for your health than beer is?? 'Cause they ain't.

@blast, you are right, it is unfair to label people according to national/racial/ethinic stereotypes. There are so many factors at the individual level that influence how a person may turn out, and that even within a homogenous society itself, there can be a wide range of differing personalities and competency levels in skills. Of course, there's no smoke without fire, and there may be some degree of truth to national stereotypes, but these should be taken with a pinch of salt.
@Rob88, lol. That was a hilarious account!

I concur with Tinitha and Jawz. Everything was clear Tin except "you are a complete breakdown" Don't quite understand that. I'm a native english speaker from everyone's favorite punching bag of a country on these forums, the U.S. These sterotypes that you guys from Europe are using for us native english speakers isn't cool. I could start to give sterotypes about ALL of your countries, no matter where you are from, Italy, France, Russia, Poland, etc. Does that make me cool? Why does it bother you so much with the language thing? Get over it guys, grow up.
KEVs
P.S. I didn't check my grammar or spelling because this isn't a legal document or a term paper, it's just a board I come to sometimes for some info on the game or just enjoyment.

@KEVs
Seems to me you missed the Dutch - Belgium warthread
All in all, the point some guys want to make is that even that this is "just" a board and English is not the native language for a lot of people here, the use of grammar is important.
Nobody is whining about spelling errors here, helll, i make them all the time myself. That's what you get when you use a foreign language. However, we all know there are certain rules like ending a sentence with a dot, or the use of a question mark when asking something.
That's the point we're trying to make! I agree Wudu's first reaction was, except for hilarious, a little over the top. But i guess he just got a little annoyed when reading the initial post.
Using correct grammar makes is easier for people to read and understand questions and replies, that's the point. You just can't expect someone from Russia or China to understand things like:
(Quote Wudu) "cuz i dunno bout this thing vry much so plz tell me k"
But you can make it easier by writing it down like "Cuz i dunno bout this vry much, so plz tell me k?" This would still annoy me to a certain degree, but at least it's understandable because there is a fundemental build up in this sentence everyone has learned in their own language. Which makes it a little easier to understand it.

@jEbUs
True. I agree to some point with you. But then again English is what most of the people here understand because it's such a major international language.
Secondly i can understand why people that don't understand Dutch (or French, or German, or Finnish, whatever) ask others to post in English since it is a forum and most threads are accessible for everyone. So sure, you want to know what it's about right? And since most of the people on the board understand English...
Last point i want to make is there are lots of English/American boards (for example for Postal 2 or Flashpoint) where people use foreign language to flame or discriminate other people, since they don't have the balls to tell it in their face. That could be a motivation aswell to ask people to post in the language all the others understand.
Luckily, and i want to stress this out, this is not such a board! Which is probably one of the reasons i spend a lot of time here and a lot of others with me. So yes, since we all know of eachother there's no strange things going around another one's back the moderators could permit the use of a foreign language sometimes.
And with Toxic's little translating gadget moderators can always check if there are no rules being broken!
This got to be my longest post ever here :headbanger:
