Thx Gunny, but I just received them from someone on the Lords of the Bytes forum. If anybody else is looking for these patches, I can send them.

Tobias

3. ja25headshot.txt - Patch lower chance hit to head.
4. ja25machiegun.txt - All machineguns have +1 AP for burst. Example, RPK-74 have 7 AP for single shot and 8 AP for burst.
5. ja25optic.txt - All sniper rifles and 4 any weapons have integrated optic scope.
6. ja25silent_burst - All weapons with loudness < 6 have silent burst.

Hm? What is the problem?
You can designate 3 weapons of your choice (such as OICW, M16/203, Groza) to have integrated GLs. And you can designate 4 weapons as having scopes, in addition to all sniper rifles.

Why only 3 for GL and 4 for scope?

Sorry for being dense, but how do I install these? I read the instructions but didn't really understand anything.

Also, anyway to get these to work with JA2?

I understand where you're coming from. The instructions are somewhat sparse, especially if you're unfamiliar with DOS.
Basically they work as follows: You have these txt files which contain a number of bytes to be changes in the Ja2UB.exe
patcher.exe finds these bytes and applies the changes. It has to be run in DOS or in a Windows command line.
Let's look at the example in the readme.

patcher.exe ja25critical.txt undocritical.txt

If you have copied all the relevant files into your Ja2UB folder, changed into a DOS window, and entered the dir you can type the command above.

C:\ja2ub>patcher.exe ja25critical.txt undocritical.txt

This will do the following:
1. Incorporate all the information in ja25critical.txt into your Ja2UB.exe
2. Create a file named undocritical.txt with which you could later reverse the changes.

As you can plainly see, usage is not exactly comfortable.
Tell you what: I will just cook up a number of easier to use batch files tomorrow.

As for applying them to Ja2. This is possible in theory, but not without comparing hex values in the different EXE versions and manually entering the modified values in a hex editor. At least I don't know of any other way.

Regards,

Tobias

What interests me is the integrated GLs and scopes. The text files have the remark lines with the "//" and a refference by someone to change numbers. What numbers??

by changing those numbers you can assign gls and scopes to weapons or to classes. if you want to give the g11 a integrated grenadelauncer you must change the number to the hex value of 30.
i hope that helps

@ Shadow21
Small correction. You need to enter the *hex* value of the weapon number. For the G11 that would be 1E. You can simply convert Weapon numbers to hex value using Windows' calculator.

Tyco, I can help with that one.

The G11 is item # 30 in the game. In hex, that is 1E. It isn't an equation. The windows calculator has an option "Scientific" which gives you a larger display.

If you enter the number 30 on Decimal setting, and then switch to hex, the number becomes 1E.

It is the same process to convert any item number.

But now I am way to curious.

I first heard about the Terapevt patches months ago, but never found them available for downloading.

I know it is annoying for people to be asking for e-mailed copies of files. I have hoped someone would post the patches somewhere for downloading.

I don't have a web-site for this, so I can't volunteer.

But damn, I am curious about these patches.

If someone could e-mail them to me at catspam11@yahoo.ca I would really appreciate it.

Please, share the wealth.

I tend to agree, but I don't know if the originator would approve of this.

I've never had them.

If you get them can you send them my way? I most likely won't be doing much for the next few months but I'd like to have all the useful tools I can get my hands on.
I've 'archived' all the utilities I really like (along with some .dlls and other stuff) on three computers but I don't have those.
