i just love to complete these games alone, e.g. with your own generated IMP only. I completed JA2 and JA2:UB this way and it seems ideal for me. Everyone can do it on medium difficulty. My tips are:

first, gen a merc with these attrs>
boost AG,DX,WI (WI should be 85, affects speed of learning)
save points on HE,ST (btw most obsolete physical attrs)
all otrhers 35 with one exception - marksmanship about 80

abilities> night ops, throwing

important tactics> attack only during night, use stealth, coverage, wait before shooting, throw a knife first when in range (great weapon, about a third of my kills are actually done by thowing a knife), appoach with care, use supressed weapons (H&K MP5), use roofs, but wisely... when shooting, always make sure you finish your enemy before the turn is over, alive wounded guys may call more enemies... with this strategy, you can manage MRK 100 after 30 or so days (actually I managed 101 - bug or what?) and with high DX and AG you are on good way to become a master...

another mercs> well, i never use them in battle, just to carry loads of ammo, grenades, LAWs, mortars etc.

this seems better to me than walking daylight with lots of mercs, you can just avoid being wounded all the time, and as you go alone, you can boost your attrs to very high levels...

Sounds cool. I always choose Night Ops for my IMP. Stealth is useless skill. I'm on day 56 in UC and my IMP is already up to 90+ mark and level 8. In my opinion, it's not necessary to go solo to get the IMP up to high levels etc.

For my IMP, I start off with 85 in all the stats except 75 for dext. 35 for marks (this skill is used all the time and raises quickly)
, 35 for med, repair, exp. And then during the game I have him raise his dext by repairing. Once his dext is high enough I have him concentrate on explosives. Trained by Barry. Then place/unplace landmines Then once his exp is high I have him arm/disarm exp to raise his exp and wisdom.

what? I'm on day 9 with only callisto taken, and I'm up to 91 marksmenship. I like to give my IMP merck expert night ops though, the extra 2 squares of sight range really pays off

no trying to offend, but do you really spend so long doing that stuff to raise stats?? doesn't it take centurys to conquest cities??? I prefer to see stats improve as the game goes on, but never spend a minute practicing skills... maybe slower, but not as boring, i guess...

regards to everyone!

Hello,
I like to get a full load of mercs, equipt them to the hilt, walk in the front door in broad daylight... and lay waste to everything in sight!!!

who said anything about training? I have over 150 kills, that's averaging 15 kils a day, and it includes time spent geting healed/training militia/repairing important gear
