There are no crates is E11, just trees. Maybe it's the harbour in C12 you are talking about? Anyway, I think that those items are randomized (I cleared that harbour but I found only a laser scope there and some cash - 3000$).
BTW, Dragunov's doeen't need a scope in this game, except for Vepr's, all the sniper rifles in UC have integrated scopes. But you can use that scope to build a scoped M4A1.

it's mostly trees, but there are 2 buildings, a house and a shack, the shack has 6 crates; I think this is the right location, it's either there, E12, or D12

It doesn't need a scope, but it has one, there are 2 types of scope, IIRC, elcan, and PSO1, the sniper scope is on the dragunov, but there's also an elcan scope for the veprs

Cor The harbor is in sector C11
But I still can find any sector west of Calisto matching your description. All have more than two buildings or no building at all. E12 is the sector where Claudia can be found and it has 4 buildings, D12 is a farmland sector and has more than two buildings. So what's that sector's exact coordinates?

D12 is also one of the sectors in which the chopper pilot can be found in some games.

D12 is the sector where I found the pilot

went back, killing everything with the GABBI cheat and checked; E11 woods, in the middle, has 2 buildings. One is 5 tiles X 5 tiles, no windows with a locked door, inside are 7 crates, containing ammo (5.45, and 7.62 X 54 and X 51), several grenades, and 2 Veprs. The second time, there was no Dragunov, and there was 5.45mm ammo (which I don't recall being there before)

however, the Dragunov supports a PSO-1 scope, and the Vepr can mount both the PSO-1 and the Elcan. One of the Veprs had an elcan

Just to check again, I started a new game (realistic, tons of guns, experienced, dame as before)

this time, (and the next), E11 was empty

so it appears to be a random arms cache.

however, it still pays to roam around the countryside, rooting through people's homes has given me 5 or 6 rod and springs

Be sure to loot every square you come across though, it pays off. Handsomely

>Damn those cunning modders!<

. I think your curse is misplaced. E11 was one of the "special" quadrants in JA2 that might or might not have a cache - it was random. E11 and H10 had a variety of items; J12 was armor and H5 was grenades.

The modders may have had little to do with this one. Then again ...

ariana,
what are your rules concerning the sectors with random items available? Usually, the items are there based on a dice roll results when you first enter that sector. Are saves and restores permitted if no fighting took place when your squad entered that sector for the first time? But if they won a fight before entering that sector for the first time?

My version of hardcore means NEVER restoring a prior save except to get around a crash to desktop or serious bug. Obviously that precludes doing ANYTHING over to get a better result. It has nothing to do with fighting.

The one exception I allow is where I'm curious how something works and try it on an "it didn't happen" basis just to learn the game. For example, I go down to the lower level of the Troy subways just to see how bad it is there. It doesn't matter 'til my next game whether I win the fight, head to Prax and take the place over in five minutes or whether I get wiped out. Either way I restore the save before going down and never go down to that level again during the current game.

In my next game I will have a better idea whether to plan on using the subways more - in this game the trip didn't happen.

actually, I think the roll is made when you start the game, that's how it was for me and E11, anyway

Got it. Thanks for the answer.
BTW, if you didn't done it so far, I think it would be a good ideea to change Claudia's faction from San Mona Army to Hicks, so she will remain hostile to your merc's but killing her will not turn Tony hostile. You can do this using Proedit, wich can be found in the Data/Binarydata subfolders of your UC install.
@chanman
Yes, the dice roll that decides whether there will be a house and a shack in E11 sector is made at the start of the game. The dice roll that decides what items can be found in that sector is made when you first enter that sector.
I don't know what to think about the Vepr with a PSO-1 scope attached to it. It means cheating using it? There is also a Vepr with a PSO-1 scope attached that sometimes can be found in a sector south of Port Kip. The GD Network says that there is a method to attach a PSO-1 scope to any type of rifle and that you will be provided information on how to do it (the use of the PSO-1 adapter is covered in another topic on that site, so it isn't about that). So far I did not found how you can do it. Maybe they where reffering to that Veprs with PSO-1 scopes. If that is true, then it does not mean cheating if one is using them.

Do non-standard attachements add any kind of bonus?

I mean, if I edit some rifle and add 4 scopes in the 4 attachement slots, will I get a 4x scope bonus?

Where does this about killing Claudia and then making Tony hostile come from?
I killed Claudia near the start and have had no problems selling weapons to Tony since.

That's the weird thing about this bug. Not everyone seems to experience it. So count yourself one of the happy few. Smile

Yes! You can JAPE any attachment to a weapon and it will function like it's intended. There is one thing, if you add a grenade addapter to a non adapter weapon I don't believe you'll be able to load grenades?

Their is a good chance you'll find a Sniper Rifle with a silencer attached...don't detach it. It works.

I've added nearly everything possible in the JA2 games...but only for messing around...not for really playing the game. It unbalances the play.

The game checks only once if a weapon has a scope and/or laser scope attached and adds the bonus(es) to your merc chances to hit accordingly. So the other 3 scopes won't give you any extra bonus.

Yes, you can only use one attachement of a specific kind. I had noticed that, by trying to add 4 rod & spring thingies to a rifle.

I tried also to add a silencer to the KSKV (wow, think of the size of that silencer - almost oil drum size Very Happy ). It worked, the shot was muted, but the bullet never left the gun and the game crashed to windows...

I'm looking for a way to bypass Jape's default error checking so I can add a grenade launcher to a mortar and a laser scope to a throwing knife! :silly:

Wonder what that break light with a rod&spring and a laser sight attached to it bought by Rude Dog from Jake can do and what type of ammo uses. Very Happy
