First of all, I'd like to say that I've been enjoying the mod so far. Very cool, and a great new experience compared to vanilla JA2. Now, on to the problem I've been having. Keep in mind that this is a "one-man-army" type of game, with only the IMP character on expert mode.

I've been having quite a bit of trouble taking Calisto by night silently. It seems like the second I kill someone, everyone comes running... and yes, I'm using a silenced weapon and nobody is within a 5 tile radius. I fire a shot and everyone runs to the alarm to set it off. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with this, but it caused all of the blue-uniformed police to become hostile towards me as well. I haven't experienced the 'everyone comes running' problem in the first town, but once I tried to take Calisto, it just started happening.

Anyone have some idea on how this could happen, and what I might be able to do in order to correct it, or at least change my play style in order to get around it?

Others may have better ideas - but in my experience there are a bunch of sectors "hard-wired" to set the alarm off very fast and Calisto is among them. The police are always hostile in my experience if you fight at night (as I always do given a choice).

My approach to Calisto is to get to a roof - fast. Not at all hard to do without being spotted. I then make my existance known and the serious killing begins. There are a bunch of roof tiles where you will often get interrupts or at least good shots but the enemy won't shoot at you - at least not often at all.

Once no one moves it is necessary to sneak around to get shots at the smarter enemies that are waiting just out of sight of those "safe" tiles to get a shot at you. Once they are gone it is necessary to come down and fight at ground level or at least find another roof.

I've gotten past the first sector, the airport, just now and it took a bit of trial and error. I jumped up on the rooftops often and moved around a bit. Sometimes staying just behind a door and waiting for the stupid enemies to come running is best so you can end them with two shots to the head. The sector just to the right is a bit trickier, since it's like 1 vs. 20+ and about 10 show up every time I spot one. Now's the time that I wish I'd taken Rude Dog's rocket launchers along with the M4.

Thanks for the tips.

the cops in UC replace the Hicks in the original game - so they don't like it when they find folks sneakin' round at night!
