Hi guys. Great mod by the way. Smile

Quick question - I can't seem to use a pso-1 scope on anything, and I can't put a scope on the m16a1 (car-15 with twist barrel). Is it intentional?

Also, I haven't found a scope that fits on the g3... am I just missing something?

Just so you know, I'm only about halfway through the game... been to calisto, galileo, port kip, and sheraton, but that's it.

THANKS FOR THE AWESOME MOD!!!

- jman

one more thing... I can't load grenades into my m4a1 after I put the g-30 on it... does it take 40mm grenades or some other kind?

Thanks again,

In short, Warsaw Pact scopes don't really attach to NATO weapons, which use a different rail system. If the weapon description doesn't list a particular scope as an attachment, you can't, well, find anything for it.

Once you find a PSO-1 adapter and merge it with an M4 or M4A1, you should be able to attach the PSO-1 scope onto it.

Similarly, once you find the GP-30 kit and use it on an M4 or M4A1, you need to attach an actual GP-30 to it for it to work.

Cheers and Good Hunting,
Vurt

You can also use JAPE to attach the PSO-1 to any firearm and it will work fine. This is what I did to attach it to a CAR-15 before I figured out how to get Wedit to work with UC.

a bit OT. When you can attach the PSO-1 adapter to M4 rifle, why can't you attach it to M16A2? There are only few differencies between them...

@Dave Z,
there's two different explainations;

First (the technical reason): I ran out of combinations to use, so it wasn't possible to do. If it was possible to attach on the M16A2 it should also be possible to attach it to the M4...

Second: The M4A1 is the flattop version, without the carryhandle. The M16A2 and the M4 both have a unremovable carryhandle which are in the way if you're trying to attach the adaptor. If it would be the M16A3 or A4 it would be another matter...

I though, it's some technical problem. Pity. Should be nice to covert M16A2 with triggergroup into M16A3 an then add the PSO-1 adaptor and scope...

I've certainly found a couple of M16s with M203 and PSO-1 scopes attached; probably down in the South-east. So if you don't mind bending the rules a little, just keep looking...

I know, allready have 2 M16A2/M203 with PSO-1 scope. But I don't use "bugged" weapons, they are "stored" at Calisto airport. I found also PPSh-41 and CZ700M1 with silencer attached or Vepr with PSO-1....

The M16 + PSO-1 is the only bugged weapon I use. Without it, it's just not good enough compared to an AK-107 + elcan, or even an AKS-74 + elcan. Since 5.56 ammo is relatively scarce, I figure that makes up for bending the rules a little.

I tried the CZ700M1 with silencer. I have seen pictures of this rifle with integrated silencer, so it's not so bugged weapon. But the AP cost is too high. Prefer my Dragunov and M21...

I think it's bugged in that it's unintended; had no idea that kind of thing was possible in RL. I did use the CZ700M1 with silencer in my first game, (until I got enough Vintorez and more importantly the ammo!)

Slow, but with a R&S it was usable and very useful on night ops.

Sniper rifles all suffer from not being one-shot killers, especially once the enemy armor improves. Of course, that means that your mercs can survive a shot from one...

Drags are nice, but it can take two shots; luckily you usually get two a turn.

The rod&spring don't attach to bolt action rifles. The CZ700 is one.

Easy mistake. I don't know why I remembered that.

I know I never used any of the cheesy add-ons in JA2, but I do use the rod&spring in UC. Sometimes you need every edge you can get.

It probably wasn't possible with the mod, but I always thought it would be more realistic to have to pay someone like Perko outrageous amounts of money to modify certain weapons. Someone with a real machine shop could lengthen a barrel, rig a silencer, maybe change the cycling rate of an action, or modify an M16 to accept a scope.

So if using a bugged weapon feels like cheating, throw away $5,000 each as payment to the invisible master machinist of Danubia and break them out of storage.

Very Happy Very Happy

I must admit that I lived (and didn't die that often) by the barrel extender. Probably could have survided JA2 without it -- just never occurred to me NOT to use it. And in SOG'69 it was beautiful on Spooky's Swedish K even if it did keep falling off from overuse!

$5000 seems awfully cheap given the amount of money floating around, but I like the idea. That machinist is going to get awful rich Smile

I know you ran out of item combo slots, but it would be kinda cool to have M16A2 + triggergroup = M16A3. Then you could put the scope adaptor on Very Happy

Not a big deal though, because sometimes it's fun to just play with the basic weapons, no fancy attachments... e.g. sometimes I'll just use a basic M4 in the urban sectors.

Those who want cheating can use weedit to decide wich attachments should be possible or not.

I use it for some reasons:

1)Allow my M16-kind

Dagger, the burst fire on the sawed-off to create the effect of giving the enemy both barrels is a great idea. Just a couple days ago, I was wondering how to make both fire at the same time, but I didn't think of simply making it burst fire. Thanks.

NumbNuts, speak for yourself about using Jape. While I really appreciate the Mod Squad and like UC better than the original JA2, UC is far from perfect and it's nice to have Jape and the other editors to fix some of the errors and tailor the game to my way of playing for my enjoyment, not yours.
