I'm changing the Rocket Rifle to a Panzerschreck for the WW2 mod I'm doing. I need to remove the figerprint I.D. feature completely from the game.

Has anyone done this?

Not afaik. I managed to remove the ingame message (~"invalid fingerprint ID. Weapon non-functional") but not the whole procedure that handles the fingerprint IDs (ie the weapon would still require an ID to be set etc). You can also change that message to anything you want, as long as it has max ~50 chars.
This however happened in the early stages of UC beta. Dvornik made a patch for us so we can remove some options from the game interface and possibly(I don't remember) he changed the rocket rifle too. You could email him about it.
As for the actual editing of the message, you need a disassembler and a hex editor. I recommend W32Dasm and Hackman. Disasm. ja2.exe, search for the orginal string, find the offset and from the hex editor, jump to that offset and change the bytes accordingly. Smile

Perhaps then I could substitute the changing of the fingerprint I.D. part of the game (I believe that freak in Grumm does this) with an instruction on how to use a Panzerschreck. This is unrealistic but maybe a better option than leaving it out altogether.
Thanx for the reply.

Hackman eh?

That would be great. I could maybe even figure out a use for it (or just scrap whatever weapon I attach it to).

I just downloaded Hackman last night. It seemed to install alright (I also downloaded the VBRuntime SP they said you needed) but when I go to run the .exe it asks me to load a Microsoft Word 2002 disc?

?????

I'd love to get this running so I can maybe solve some of the technical problems right away.
