I am fiddling around with the Beta editor and want to get some maps up and running quickly. I can always refine them later.

So I a create a building and want to copy it. There's a copy button on the buildings tab. This is either bugged or I am missing something.

Any suggestions?

No, it's not bugged. The area you are copying the building to must be clear of signifigant obstacles (trees etc.) and can't extend into the map border.
Just play around with it a bit and I'm pretty sure you'll get it.

I press the "copy building" button. Now I move the cursor over a building and click the mouse. The building is "highlighted" with a grid which covers its extent.

The moment I move the mouse the building becomes garbled and eventually disappears altogether to be replaced with bits of "garbage".

Clicking the mouse does nothing. Pressing "undo" puts the building back.

EDIT : worked it out. My bad. You're supposed to keep the mouse button down the whole time!

Yes, and you've only began the wide quirky wonderful world of Beta Editing!

Save very often, otherwise you'll get frustrated very fast. Every time you think you might be doing something that could cause the editor to hang up - save - then save again to be certain.

It's a lot of fun once you get passed that part.

Louis.
Your original building must be complete structurally ... have a floor - roof & prefferably room numbers.

1. Press copy building.
2. Highlight a building with cursor then hold down mouse button.
3. Drag your building to desired spot then let go of mouse.
4. Normally room numbers will vanish but if you have them in original building this helps you copy it intact ... structurally speaking.

Sometimes a section of wall or similar might be missing on the newly created building after you copy .... that's normal.
