To my understanding in an .xml file it is possible to link files by having a 'trunk' or maybe 'root' .xml with branches stemming off of it (think Items.xml as the trunk and weapons.xml as a branch that has magazines, ammotypes, etc. as branches of this).

It doesn't matter what the 'trunk' .xml is called but I would think for characters the intuative choice would be prof.xml. In fact, I think if all the links to character rendering were externalised it is likely that everything 'springs' from the 'trunk' .xml of prof.dat.

Maybe not.

That is not the point though.

The point is, we need a set of .xmls linked together through a common 'trunk' or 'parent' .xml (forgive me for speaking in 'technical' terms I have only passing aquaintence with).


But in order for this to work in a manner 1.13 modders are already familliar with the natural (and perhaps only) choice would be to have a set of .xmls each preforming their specific functions (be they exact character slot, map placement, npc 'script' [meaning of course the actions an npc takes) etc.).

This is what I meant by other .xmls 'springing' from the prof.xml.

Think Items.xml in relation to it's 'child' directories.
