1- "ERROR: Failed to open "C:\Program Files\Jagged Alliance 2 Gold/Data/music.slf"
ERROR: caught unhandled exception:
Initialising libraries failed"

this is I find extremely stupid: 1.13, wildfire, gold 1.12 all can run without speech, music and intro

some people are not using desktop computers to play this game and ssd disk space can't be wasted on some z grade voice actor trying to do 5 different voices.

I had several problem reports, which all boiled down to people missing files or misspelling filenames. So I made missing any slf-files fatal, which resulted in me no longer getting this kind of problem report. Maybe for some of the files an exception could be made, but I'm not very fond of this.

2- having to have a JA2 folder in my documents is idiotic at best.

Would be easier to put the *.ini in the zip and say 'dump this in your JA2 dir'

The only place, a normal user is guaranteed to be able to write to, is his home directory. Thefore all configuration files, temporary files and savegames are located there.

3- the 640 x 480 is a killer on displays that are designed to use higher and more exotic res... at least AT LEAST the 800x600 should be made available as it's essential for lots and lots of ppl

Any other resolution than the original 640x480 requires hundreds of replacement graphics.

...But then you get completely idiotic stuff that makes you go 'puta mierda, porque?' like the decision to have your enemies bodies just vanish seconds after you shoot them 'WHY?' this is so completely unrealistic and stupid ... y'know what's funny having the crows beak an invisible body lol. The other stuff I've mention having to have a folder in my documents with JA2.INI irritates me, that is where I keep all my german beastility porn. The fact that you have to have the music and speech slf's also is kinda stupid...

You are missing files, specifically the jsd-files for the bodies (or you misspelled them). Sadly this is not a fatal error, but maybe I should change that. Such statements like yours lead me to making missing slf-files a fatal error.
Further, thank you for you judgement about my (alleged) decisions. It's people like you, who do not contribute anything, but scare off people who do.

Is it really just 1 person working on the straciatella project?????? I was under the impression it was a bunch of linux people... that certainly explains the slow development and quietness in this boards.

It is just me and I do not use Linux to develop JA2-Stracciatella
