The editor needs two compile-time flags to be built. That the "-editor" command line option exits on error tells me that Tron didn't include it in his official binary for Windows. It may be because those required flags make the game show a lot of debug messages on screen and in files. It spoils your game (tells where Gabby is, what Deidranna is doing etc) and slows it down.

I think you need to compile stracciatella from source if you want the editor (or use someone else's package as suggested). And you also probably won't want to play the game with a binary done to run the editor but keep two separate programs.
