I've got the current version from https://launchpad.net/~bojo42/+archive/ja2-stracciatella , so version 7072, installed on ubuntu 10.04.
The game works fine, but the bodies disappear here too. The vultures later are there, but bodies disappear after death. The posts in the forum make me think it had been fixed, but not for me?! Gore is activated, of course.
