I've noticed the Mini-14 does seem to perform really poorly. I think it's been mentioned before that iron sights in general perform more poorly that they should with NCTH. I'm not sure why the Mini-14 is so bad, although it's recoil effects (the numbers in the lower-right corner of the info panel) are pretty poor, as are it's aiming levels. My M1 Carbine does considerably better than my Mini-14.

I've found spreadfire to be extremely useful...even more so in NCTH that it used to be. I've encountered situations where lightning shows me a big cluster of enemy, and I hose the area down with 9mm from an MP5 or an AUG Para. Even though I couldn't see them, I hit four or five, killed two, and suppressed the rest. I haven't used the ARES Shrike lately, but I'm sure it's lethal in that context.

The full-auto only SMG are still useful, but it's nice to have burst mode or single-shot at least. The only difference for me is firing three or four shots in full-auto instead of three shots in burst. It usually takes a few more APs, and there's a chance you fire more shots than intended. That doesn't stop me from using, say, the SR2 Veresk, though.

The real losers in NCTH are weapons with two-shot burst mode like the AN-94 and the HK UMP. It's a major liability.
