Normally Darren will say something about his fighters needing rest...

I seem to remember something like that from vanilla but that's never happened to me in v1.13. I've now done a fresh install and tested by going straight for san mona on first day (skipping out on first battle and dodging patrols). Went in with IMP, DrQ (MA for fighting), Raven (scouting).

Won first 3 fights, Kingpin impressed and leaves, then slept right there in the bar for one hour (from about 5pm-6pm on Day1), spoke to Darren and he was already offering another fight.

As you say, surely this can't be right?

If normal behaviour is one fight per day maximum then I might just restrict myself to that. Can anyone replicate this in their v1.13 build 4870 so I know if my install is goofy or if it's something common.
