Yes, they are of questionable morality....they exploit bugs in the system, but then some people consider saving/reloading to be "cheating". Whatever....

Here are some more tricks of questionable morality:

16) In turn based mode you can detect unseen enemies by selecting a merc and plotting possible movement paths. The path shown (dotted footsteps) will avoid civilians and enemies, both visible and non-visible. So if you have a path that takes an odd detour for no apparent reason, there is likely to be an enemy there. You can then either shoot the target (preferably with a scoped weapon) or use a grenade. This trick is of less utility in towns though due to the presence of civilians. In addition, building walls could hide your path.

17) A similar trick to 16), you can detect invisible enemies in realtime mode. To do this, the merc you select must be prone. When you select possible movement paths, you will not get a path, like in turn based mode, but if you move your cursor on top of a hidden person, it will turn into a yellow cross. Again, watch out for civilians.

18) While saving/reloading often has the same effects because the state of the random number generator is also saved, there are slight differences. For instance, if you save before attempting to throw a knife and it fails, reloading and trying the same shot again will sometimes work. Or, if not, you could reload then take a few steps (in stealth mode) before throwing the knife. The system checks to see if you are heard so it uses the next random number, allowing a new number to be used for your knife attack.

19) In turn based mode, you might be prone or crouched behind sandbags (or more commonly, on a roof) and out of sight of enemies. Standing up then causes these enemies to appear. The problem is that you may get interrupted. A "cheat" around this is to try throwing a grenade. When you attempt to throw the grenade, you stand up. When you stand up, you spot the enemy and the grenade toss is CANCELLED. You are now standing and have enemies in sight and are guaranteed not to have been interrupted. You can now either toss a grenade or take a shot. Then crouch down and repeat next turn. This kind of tactic makes rooftops very useful.

20) You will often win militia battles if you press the "fast forward" button, especially if you outnumber the enemy. If not, then reloading will usually give a different result. This is one area where the state of the random number generator doesn't seem to have an effect.
