WeaponX did a version of the mod for use with JA2DL. That was even more insane. I can remember finding 70+ in several sectors.
It's a great mod, and a great test of your skills, but it'll take you a very long time to finish the game. I started a game with the JA2DL version 2 years ago and I play it every so often, but I've still only conquered 3 cities.
