Yes, there is a depot close by, but the only one who has better weapons is the one in I16 and those two sectors east of Rudesa, which are all too far and too dangerous for the first days. I favor the AKS-74 over G3.
And it's not that long, I can take those weapons in half the real life time needed to clear the bad guys and girls out of a gunrunner's depot.
