D/loaded from Hoenirs site the original demo , in German obviously , haven't ever used the timed turns before , hmm , challenging I'd say ! Worth digging out for a shot if you've not tried .

Yep, thank you very much. Been a while but I played that demo with a friend many, many times. That guy on the rooftop was annoying as hell. Always missed that map in the final game, especially when arriving in Estoni.

Whilst making MFM I noticed P1 (and assuming P1-B1 & P1-B2 as well) was still there anyway. You could try the helicopter to see if it works or not. To make enemies there in 1.07 all you need is SM-Edit to alter a map.bin. To make enemies there in 1.13 is easier still. To make characters there you would be taking them out of normal JA2 positions so not advised. You could do it in an hour or less but would have to start new game...

I gabb-teleported to P1 last night. No enemies as you say (because the bin doesn't pick P1 up). The basement crashes out because there are 32 enemies placed down there and JA2 basements don't use that setting... just a lower fixed number. The cave below that didn't work in the demo anyway so I reckon it wouldn't still without some serious fixing. In any event P1 is just too Estoni-like to be of much value. Still as some kind of trippy deja-vu sub-quest it could be punked up into something worth doing... 3 maps not too much bother really I'll let you know when they're ready (BTW I'm working in the MFM version of JA2 so the tilesets are not Vanilla and sfaic all three maps need heavy editing just to get them looking right). If you want to know just how to activate the Vanilla maps I'll be glad to take you through the process (and if you're working from Vanilla there no reason why you can't make clones of Jake, Gabby and Dynamo so even the characters are there... a much longer process though).

Current status:
I adapted the Demoville maps by Jona. In sector C9 you will find Demoville and it also includes the underground map (in my opinion Demoville should be at the beginning of the game). The Chitzena mine in sector: B2 is now closed for "tourists", because I needed the underground map: B2_B1 for the Demoville underground sector. I modified the B2_B1 underground map; you can open a secret passage there, but probably you will need a specialist. Maybe you find something interesting? Wink

You simply extract the "C9_Demoville.zip" file into the main folder of your game.

The timed turns in the demo ? Where you only get seconds to decide your move , aim , shoot / run / whatever .
I haven't used it at all in any of my JA games , certainly speeds up thinking processes Very Happy

In basements in JA2 maps you place only the required number of troops never the full 32. Downside of this is it's always the same regardless of difficulty setting.

Try the same idea for the creature cave. Not so sure about that so keep a copy of the unedited one as a back up. If you place ordinary soldiers in a cave they never appear sorry to say.

Too subtle a change. Try 20 or less. Open Tixa Basement or Orta basement & count the bad guys. Tunnel below queens garden for instance I put 6 bad guys only and they always show up.

Why not make it a conquerable city and allow militia training?

Also, if you duplicate prof.dat records so that the NPC's are functional, it would allow them to be in 2 places at once wouldn't it?

Bad Idea (the duplicate thing not the militia)! Sorry. If you want them to be in either set them to @0 in prof.dat then there's a chance they show in either likely location. Once game is underway their position stays fixed for the duration unless they are wanderers like Carmen, Assassins etc.

ex mine or cave is hard to activate as basement. They did however manage this for Urban Chaos... you should ask for the trick to it.
