As Razor would say
"time to carve some turkeys"

Grunty lvl 4
weapon HK 53A3+flash suppressor+battle scopex7
sector c2 time 17:52

In the weapon raised position visual line of sight increase by 12 tiles!

Am I the only one that feels it makes the game too easy ?
(especially when looking diagnally as it costs twice as much ap to move closer)

It's not overpowered as it can be done to you. Even worse if there are Barrett wielding enemies with 10x scopes waiting for you to be spotted by an ally of theirs.

It does make things a little easier if you use day ops a lot, but personally I prefer being stealthy and Night Ops. Every now and again though Day Ops can be good.

Hi Syzor, welcome to the board. You are right to some degree, and this is because enemies won't always use their scopes just to find where you are. The enemy AI prefers walking over looking unless you have a dedicated sniper who was placed on the map.

Also Kaerar is right, when one enemy spots one or more of your team, the sniper way in the back will take a shot at your guy using his x10 scope. However most of the time they will do so standing, instead of trying to go prone to get a better aim bonus.

However it doesn't necessarily make the game too easy as your 6 or so mercs may have to take out 20+ enemies. If the AI were to be more clever, you would need more mercs or some other way of beating the AI. By the way, there are discussions on this board about improving the AI.

Did you also notice that your field of vision decreased at the same time? Your merc thus has less of a chance to detect flanking enemies and can get shot from his flanks without being able to retaliate.

That flanking maneuver can really spoil your battle plan! My sniper used to get quite a lot of unwanted company, especially if I wasn't careful with their placement and thus leaving dead angles. I usually pair the sniper with a pawn (like Ira, Dimitri etc.), another sniper or the mortar guy to cover the flanks.

IMO the aim-bonus from the scopes is quite balanced! Smile
