Hey guys

So Ive only very briefly played Jagged Alliance 2 years ago. Ive been wanting to delve into it for quite a while and now it the time!

So where do I start? Im slightly confused about wildfire. Ive heard its buggy and hard (the latter of which I dont mind, I love a challenge) but is baically a rerelease? Do I want to get it or the original JA2 with the expansions? Do I want the mod? - I generally like to experience games the way developers meant for them to be, does 1.13 completely change the core game?

Please help a fellow on how to have the most complete, and fun play through possible.

Thanks in advance!

Firstly , welcome to Bearspit !
Now , why does no-one take the time to research things anymore , it's all gimme this , gimme that and NOW ....
* rant over* Smile
ok , Start with JA2 Gold edition , still available from Amazon and Steam / Gamersgate d/loads . And I like Wildfire , it's harder though ! There are loadsa mods to play with , but.... get the basics learned first .
I wouldn't advise trying 1.13 firstly , too much to take in , it might be a bit daunting , and as I hinted at the top , read posts , threads , there's loadsa info to help , course we're always here too ! :ok:

Wildfire is basically a "mod". New maps, new weapons, new stuff. Made by fans, adopted and distributed by (dunno really?) [color:#FF0000]( Zuxxex )[/color] . Making it a semi-official add-on/mod.

If you want to expierence the game the developpers wanted, warts and all, just intall 1.12 Gold (should still be availabale online). And then install Stracciatella and play that. Same game, less bugs Smile Stracciatella being a port to SDL. Not important if you're on Windows. What is important is that a lot of the bugs of the original game have been fixed and basic gameplay is the original game. And it's fast as hell.

1.13 changes a lof of things. Adds a lot, fixes a lot of bugs and makes it generally a different game expierence. Play that after you're satisfied with the original game Wink

And of course: welcome to the Pit. Have a brewsky and enjoy the ride Very Happy
