Everything should have been so easy...
I'm trying to run the new JA2 MP Mod v1.4 (from http://ja2.h758491.serverkompetenz.net/Wanne/MP/) but theres an error on startup and I cant even get to the main menu. Heres what I did:

[color:#CC0000]1) Install JA2 (non-Gold, Ger)
2) Official patch (v1.02)
3) Installed 1.13 Mod (Installer, Release 2085, German)
4) Extracted MP Mod 1.4 contents into Install Directory (\Games\JA2\)
5) Run JA2_MP_DE_v1.4.exe
6) get this[/color]

What I also tried (same result):
- go to a friend, try with Gold version
- Install different official patches beforehand (1.02,1.05,1.10,1.12)
- get english version of Game and Mods
- googling the error message
- searching forums for similar problems, am I really the only one??

No Problems with the original game or 1.13 single player so far. May build 2085 be too old? The only MP Mod that works for me is called JA2_release_2257_de, apparently an old project from 2008 where all the server settings had to be done in the mp.ini directly (no GUI etc). All the new releases (MP 1.0 - 1.4) give me that runtime error... I'd really like to play the improved versions tho =(
Anyone has an idea what could be wrong here? I'm slowly going insane.

My System:
Windows Vista Home
AMD Athlon X2 QL-60 ~1.9GHz
3GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450
(yes it's a Notebook)

@germanMG: Your version of 1.13 (2085) is too old. You have to install the 1.13 one-click-installer by scheinworld.

Installation
1.) Install German JA2
2.) Download 1.13 from SVN (using TortoiseSVN). Take a look at this thread:

The good thing with the SVN approach is, that you are always up-to-date with the latest 1.13.
3.) Download German MP v1.4 and extract it in your JA2 install directory. Overwrite any existing files.
4.) Start the game with "JA2_MP_DE_v1.4.exe"
5.) Enjoy 1.13 MP

Thanks a lot for the very fast help! MP works now and the new features (advanced weapon description etc.) sure are a great improvement!
All that's left are some minor issues... I'll just write a little list again:

1) Can I restore the original AP system or am I stuck with the 100AP count thing? It kind of takes much of the feel of the old JA2 away.
2) I used the TortoiseSVN method and now I have a kinda garbled Eng/Ger version where all the sound files and descriptions are german but buttons, stats and some other things are still English. I'd rather play a fully translated version. With the 2085 installer release everything remained intact... maybe its time for an updated version of that? I have links to a Scheinworld all-in-one release but I don't know its contents or version number... so I didn't even try it. (yes I copied ALL files, first english then german on top of it as instructed)
3) Can I set a fixed number of enemies to appear in any sector we want to play CoOp in? Old MP often only spawned like 3 weaklings in the field (after 20 minutes of Merc preparation lol). I know about the max enemies setting.

Note that this does not stop me from playing or anything. Those are just some cosmetical issues.

1.) Open the APBPConstants.ini inside your Data-1.13 folder and change the first line from 100 to 25 and you are back to 25 APs

2.) Normally you should have a fully german version if you did the following things.
a.) Installed original JA2 German
b.) Copy over the English SVN GameDir files in your JA2 installation directory.
c.) Now at last copy over the German SVN Game Dir files, so they will overwrite english ones in your JA2 install directory

IMPORTANT: Always copy the German SVN GameDir files after you have copied the English SVN GameDir files, so German files overwrite existing English ones.

3.) No you can't. The maximum number + strength of enemies depend on the 2 difficult settings. If you also set "Maximum AI", you always have full enemies in the sector.

PS: If you play CO-OP, and sometimes when enemy interrupted one of your merc the game stucks on the enemy interrupt (the red turnbar does not move). As a workaroung, skip the stucking enemy turn, by pressing ALT + E on the server and give the turn again to the client.

EDIT: Look at my signature. You find a link to IRC channel, where you meet other players. Then you can play JA2 MP over the internet.

Okay thanks, looks like old AP system is back.
I followed your Instructions EXACTLY like they are written there but I still got the beforementioned effect. Going to reinstall and try again, new SVN download and everything. I'll report back later. Playing full English wouldn't be so bad either.
I already found out about the Alt+L thing, happened pretty often in the old versions too =)
And last, my vote for the next new feature goes to "Set Enemy Strength Options in GUI".^^

Not necessary, it's alright now. Just did a fresh install and re-downloaded all the mod files again and now its fully translated! I don't know what went wrong but I'm sure I just messed up at some point again. Also got the Wildfire 6.06 SVN Version and it seems to work fine, even with MP. Yay!

I know it's not so imortant but the Wildfire drop zone (where your Mercs fastrope in) should be in the West of the first Omerta sector, not the North-East behind the building.

I tried to use my 113.2085 WF saves but updater tells me theres 28 instead of 20 Merc Slots and aborts =/
Can I change those back to 20 or do I have to start over my SP from scratch?

you can change the number of merc in your ja2_options.ini.
Search for MAX_NUMBER_PLAYER_MERCS. To edit the ja2_options.ini use the INI Editor or notepad. If you want to load the savegame you have to change the value in the ja2_options.ini, otherwise you can't load the savegame.
