So, before the release of Jagged Alliance Reloaded I decided to fire up good ol JA2, slap on some mods and experience the nostalgia once more. But I've been away from the game for quite some time and now I'm lost. Which Mods I should install, besides the 1.13 to have the most awesome, realistic and fresh experience? Could someone give me a rundown?

JA2 + 1.13 +?

OK, I'll use the opportunity to give what I know and in the same time ask what I don't, so that the people later help me out too.

Now, JA2 gold patched is ready to have the latest 1.13 mod installed.

You can also try Renegade Republic. It installs separately so you can play Original JA+1.13+RR at any time. The RR gives new campaign, new cool mercs and other good stuff

Dunno which other mods install that way and work with the NIV and the other implementations(these come along with 1.13).If anybody knows-it'd be cool to share the info with us.

Hey Mike =) I mean, what Mods I could install to exchange the experience in JA2 1.13 only? I don't need any new campaigns. (though I enjoyed Urban Chaos a lot)

I read about H.A.M. 4.0 and it sounds awesome, pity it's only in Alpha stage now.

Previous version of HAM, version 3.6, is already included in 1.13 latest release. HAM 4.0 is alpha because it incorporates a completely new CTH system, among other things.
Basically, 1.13 is enough to replay an original campaign in a new way (you get all the new stuff in 1.13, New Inventory System, Enhanced Description Box and new IMP generation system). The rest basically depends on what kind of experience you're after.
For those who want a new skills system, there's STOMP.
If you're more into Wildfire setting, there's Wildfire 6.06 mod along with Alpha Item Mod. If you don't like new mercs and storyline, but would like to try Wildfire's new maps, grab an international version with just the maps and items (you can install AIM on top of that to enhance your item palette).
For those who want an "item mod" without Wildfire, there's IoV,currently at release 919.

Bottom line: if you just want to play an "facelifted vanilla", install just 1.13 latest release. Once you have played it, you'll know what else do you need.

Okay, so I chose to install the Combo Mod by Tais. Anything else to spice it up. Sprites or animations maybe?

All I get is empty inventory for A.I.M. mercs

It's actually a simple but tedious task.
The mercstartinggear.xml of this mod has the following layout:

		0
		Barry
    items...

But the exe from the Beta SCI requires this layout:

		0
		Barry

      items...

See the difference? All you have to do is add between the mercs name and his first item and between his last item and the closing tag.
You just have to do it for every single merc Smile

Hmmm, on second though I don't need any A.I.M. or M.E.R.C. grunts at all. I'll just create an I.M.P. female, dress her the same as the rebels, give her a Mosin Nagant and pretend she's a rebel sniper. I'll make Miguel and Carlos join right after Omerta.

P.S. Strange. Mosin Nagant doesn't want to take .7.62x54R ammo. It wants 44cal

Seems this mod screws with weapons as well.

Crap, I want this mod, because it's the most realistic one as far as weapons choice for you and A.I. goes. I can't imagine some 3rd world country regular soldiers firing DSR-1's at me.
