I am not sure if it is a bug, but looks like.
When in the beginning of the game you mark "inventory actions cost AP" then you can stuck when you place an item (binoculars) in the weapon slot, but you do not have any more AP to place weapon (that appears on your cursor) in any other slot. so you are forced to load a game necause you can do nothing.
EDIT:
OK, you just need to exit from inventory =) so It is just a minor bug.

Putting back the "binoculars" (or any other item) in the same slot where you just have taken it, should not need any AP points. If it does, there is indeed a bug in the system.

Point was that there is already pistol in the slot I had the binoculars.
And I found the solution.

Also it is a bit inconvenient that I can't have binoculars in one arm and weapon in another. so if I use binoculars, i have to put my weapon somewhere in the inventory.

this is why I stopped using the inventory ap system myself, try swapping a weapon in hands with another one when you are low on ap and you end up with an item in hand that you cant drop in a slot or on the ground, I even somehow ended up with an undroppable weapon in hand and negative ap's

You just need to exit from inventory.

HM... Looks like not always... but of you exit from inventory and item is still not placed, try to exit to the global map. This should fix.

only thing to fix that one was to go to task manager and kill ja2 because when you have an item on cursor you clearly cant go anywhere anymore

If you click End Turn button, with the item on cursor, it will be automatically placed into your inventory and respective APs will be charged. Worked for me everytime.

Side note: there is another bug that I think was introduced around the same time as the inventory AP feature...

If you move around some items in tactical, and then switch to map view, sometimes you get stuck with an item in the mouse cursor. Workaround is to figure out which merc and slot it came from and put it back there. The same item will exist in the slot already.

This happens with the inventory AP feature turned off; not sure if it happens when the feature is turned on.

Well like I said, it happened to me when I picked up a two handed weapon from a storage slot and dropped it on a two handed weapon that was in my hands, it did the swap, it deducted ap's and I ended up with a weapon on my cursor and no slot to drop it on because the weapon on cursor didnt have the storage slot as it's origin and my AP's were 0.

Atleast that's all I can make of it, JMich did make a tiny patch in the system but when I played with that fix I still got stuck somehow.

Wrong. I had it many-many times. and I am always able to exit to the global map and item is always placed somewhere in the inventory of the merc.

Hm, the code should calculate if the newly picked item will be possible to place anywhere in the inventory (or on ground maybe) at the moment the items are swapped, and dissalow the swap if not. With message thrown.
Now someone has to code it...Smile

Well, the code was originally made for "Internal Consumption" by Jenilee, and I tried my best to implement it. The easiest change to do to remove the "Item Stuck on Cursor" would be to split the AP cost to pickup/drop an item to 2 different ones, and set the APs to drop an item to 0, thus enabling someone to drop an item without it costing any APs (may need an extra check as to not cost the APs for the slot you picked the item from).
Not sure if/when I'll have the time to mess with code, so if anyone wants to do this change, feel free.
