I've read on the forum that flash hiders hide the muzzle flash, hence i suppose when enemy is looking in your direction they will not see a muzzle flash, and thus your exact position. But how does it work? Suppose enemy has vision range of 28. You are 32 tiles from him, and shoot without muzzle flash. Does his vision range somehow extend and he then see your muzzle flash? If not, i don't see any usefulnes of muzzle flash when you are in enemy vision range -after all he still see you[unless you are camouflaged in high grass]. So overall their usefulness at day is questionable. Moving over to night time, as i understand the soldiers vision is still 28 tiles, but he can actually see something like 8 tiles. But if you are within that 28 tiles, and shoot without muzzle flash, you will still be seen by enemy, right? And last question, even if you use muzzle flash, and are in enemy vision range while being hidden from him[either camouflaged at day, or at night], enemy will still hear your shot. And in my experience, enemies go to the exact location of my soldier, instead as i read on the forum -in the general direction from where the shot came. Since distances between your merc and enemies, are pretty small[typical engagement for assault rifles are like 30 tiles], it's impossible to reposition by a substantial distance in a timely manner, before enemy go to your last position.
