[*]Biff (Yeah, I don't like the guy either)
[*]Fox (Poor shot and there are better doctors available)
[*]Ira (She's ok, considering that she doens't require any money, but poor shot gets her killed sooner or later)
[*]Steroid (Some of my favourite mercs don't like him, so neither do I )
And I don't consider Bull a poor merc, I think he's pretty useful, especially in the beginning. He can open anything with power...

The 5 worst mercs are
1. Thor: (way too expensive, and useless)
2. Biff
3. Gumpy
4. Flo
5. Trevor (yes Trevor! Explosives is very easy to train. Mechanic, hire Static, if you want Mechanic + Lockpick expert, take Maddog (don't know why people complain, get him early, he gets fairly useful for shooting. I mean, come on, people give Rasor + Haywire a shot, Maddog's a physco, he's cheaper than them, and a whole lot mroe useful). Plus, paying $2,800 a day for a exp. level 2 merc, means Trevor will be asking for probably around $7,500 a day by level 6 or 7.

Arrrgh, leave Len alone!  He can learn! He is very good, and he's cheap (for his level) he's the cheapest guy you'll get at level 7, 'xcept people with 60 marks, and not much else. He can learn, and he is very good! Leave him along, you mean mean people! And Conrad, how can you criticise him. You know, you can turn down his first offer, and he'll work for $3300 a day. PLus, his pay can never increase (unlike some other people: Cougar, Cougar, Cougar) And he starts out with 95 marks., how could you not love that!

Maybe in your game, that's true jannepee, but in mine, he's great; so don;t criticise him, he does learn, eventually. And as for Cougar, got 1 word for ya, Magic. He's better in EVERY category, and he's just better! Period!  And as for Cougar, he's merc's way of saying: "but, we're not all a pathetic bunch of losers. Look, we got Cougar, he's kinda sorta like AIM. It's not our fault we got wimp, I mean Biff as our recruiter, so leave us alone!" That's what COugar is.

ANyway, jannepee, you actually were right.
I'm playing another game and I just got Len. I've used him for 2 weeks, including trianing militia about 3 times, and he hasn't gained a point, In anything. I am trully sorry, to you, and to anyone else whom I've tried to defend and preach how good Len is to! I feel so dumb!  Anyway, I have made my retribution. For every defense of Len I made, I stabbed him 5 times, with my custom, Hellfire. I got him down to critical, then, I patched him up, and healed him. Then, I made him git near all I my excess TNT. Finally, when he had like 5 energy, I made him swim in the deep end of the ocean. I've never seen him since! YAY!  Anyways, I again apologize, and I now put him 1st on my hated MERC list. I still like Conrad though

how the heck did you make len learn anything...
i hate him...
plus i got my level 9 imp for zero a day  and grizzly is also cheaper at that level
ps. i hate the americans ds.
and he have only 85 in markmanship

I really hate Shank. He can barely carry a couple of throwing knives and grenades along with a set of body armor. Anymore and its like he's getting a hernia. His dex and agi are abysmal so he can barely aim and has no AP's, not to mention his health stinks but that usually works out for the best for me since that means he dies faster. Plus I hate looking at his beat up face even months after I break him outta jail.

Voltage hit it right.
1. Any Merc with 0 Med. Good god. Please put a band-aid on my owwee.
2. Larry-hired him by mistake. Stayed one day then quit because of Steroid.
(Shank just drove the truck from point to point cleaning up junk for sale. finally got rid of him because needed the slot for making my final assault teams to clear out the elite-infested bottom half of the world. He's not really worthless, just like Voltage a real local.)
3. Buns-what a bitch!!!
4. Gumpy- fire miss, fire miss, fire hit with damage -1. Died in mines to bugs, good riddance, hired by mistake also.
5. Any Merc that starts the game with a 38 spec. (kidding!) I mean what kind of guys goes to fight a war with a 38. My reasoning is customs in their countries is tight, all you can smuggle out is the 38 because no terrorist in his right mind would use it. Game should have a weak weapons dealer at the beginning to sell maybe Mini-14s or shotguns to make it a little easier at first. But I see the point. Game gets boring after they get good guns.becomes fire-head -45, fire head -51, fire head pop...
Maybe give Mercs starting weak guns with rare ammo...Stuff you cant resupply after first few sectors.

Well I can see your piont, but I really don't like him all that much. Even with his wisdom 80 he never seems to improve. But for a less anti-Shank list I'd probably pick.
1. Shank
2. Biff he just wigs out so often, although that can be funny at times. Pretty darn hard to get him to improve to with his low wisdom.
3. Numb, I thought I'd give him a break and try him out; but all he did was cop an attitude, at least that's how it seemd to me.
4. Larry because it's too much trouble to try and keep him away from the booze and medical supplies.
5. Um Hamous. Aside from the truck he's never been all that much use to me. His wisdom is way too low and his stats are only mediocre.

once again i coute you stonecold 316...
stephen is much cheaper than len at level 7
(1000$) and is much more capable...
my list is like this:
1. Thor-i hate new age and that stuff
2. Len-read above
3. trevor-too expensive
4. shank and dynamo-crappy mercs
5. vince-hire razor, he is much better

1 Static. Trevor-like, but not as good. And I don't need 2 Trevors...
2 Vicky : same thing. 2 Automags are cool, but too light in real warfare.
3 Gus. Good but too costly
4 Larry Roachburn. Hell too difficult to manage & keep clean.
5 Buzz. Unable to heal herself. Unable to carry the Heavy weapons she learned to use. Need to say more?

...Nearly my perfect team! That game is wonderful, each one does use its own strategies, its own style...
Thor learns incredibly fast, as Trevor does. They both are very efficient in any combat style, as soon as provided with the right goggles.
Biff and Flo are a good Militia team. However, I do'nt send them often on battle, for obvious reasons.
Gumpy learns maybe even quicker, disarms traps, gets a good fighter after 10 or 15 combats for nearly no bucks.
Yep, a fine good team.

. So, Cold Stone, I know that Magic is better than Cougar, or not. He might have better skills, but you can see it in his fee. Those guys can leave anytime, you can keep MERC guys forever just if remember to pay honestly to Speck.
